Following his ‘Cold Strings’ EP back in May earlier this year, German producer Alex Breitling returns to Purified Records with his latest offering ‘Skyfall’. Devising a melodic soundscape with undulating synth patterns across deep bass, his latest cut embodies his euphoric and powerful musical identity. 

The ‘Skyfall’ artwork showcases an image of a hammerhead shark, captured by Daniel Nicholson. Hammerhead sharks are known for their distinctive, hammer-shaped heads, which give them an advantage in maneuverability and detecting prey through specialized sensory organs. These adaptations make them highly effective hunters of stingrays, fish, and other sharks. Unfortunately, many hammerhead species are endangered due to overfishing for their fins, habitat destruction, and bycatch, making conservation efforts crucial to their survival. Revisiting a selection of label releases, Purified Records presents the Remixes II compilation. Inviting French producer Aalson to put his own spin on Colombian producer Deviu’s ‘Snow’ Ft. Mira Nait, his remix enters a heavier dimension while maintaining the original’s vocals and progressive atmosphere. Moving into German producer TH;EN’s remix of ‘The Night’ by HEREON x Adam Sellouk x Braev x Like Mike, this powerful rendition builds a steady soundscape around the impactful vocals. Revisiting Nightlapse’s ‘Weightless’, Swiss producer Dan Sushi infuses trance and progressive elements to achieve a rave-ready version of the label anthem.

The Remixes II artwork displays coral and surrounding reef fish, captured by Daniel Nicholson. Small reef fish play a crucial role in maintaining the health of coral ecosystems by controlling algae growth, which can otherwise smother corals. Their feeding habits promote coral regeneration and biodiversity, ensuring the resilience of these delicate marine habitats. These little fish also serve as a vital food source for larger predators, supporting the broader oceanic food web. Making his label debut, Florida-based producer JNSN delivers a two-track EP titled ‘Looming Space : Out Of Love’ on Purified Records. Juxtaposing heavy synth work and percussion with Paul Brenning’s soothing vocals, ‘Looming Space’ is a captivating slice of progressive house. Flowing into ‘Out Of Love’, JNSN builds an alluring instrumental arrangement around Lauren L’aimant’s airy vocals, before introducing rolling bass and guiding pads to complete the cut. 
The ‘Looming Space : Out Of Love’ artwork features a photograph of a lionfish, captured by Daniel Nicholson. In the Indo-Pacific, lionfish are native and play a balanced role in their ecosystems. Their populations are naturally controlled by local predators and environmental factors. Their vibrant colors, combined with their long, flowing pectoral fins and venomous spines, serve as a warning to potential predators while also making them one of the most visually distinctive fish in the ocean. Unfortunately, they are very invasive in the Caribbean and have become a serious ecological concern. Want to learn more? Revisiting one of the label’s first releases from 2019, Canadian producer Return Of The Jaded’s ‘Soma’ receives two new versions. Reworking the original in his VIP edit, ROTJ infuses drum and bass elements to craft a brooding soundscape that further demonstrates his versatility as a producer. Czech artist Dominik Gehringer delivers a striking rendition, showcasing his progressive and powerful sonic identity, while keeping the original’s essence alive.
The Soma Remixes artwork displays a majestic image of an eagle ray, captured by Daniel Nicholson. Eagle rays are large, graceful rays known for their distinctive, flat, diamond-shaped bodies and long, slender tails. They are often seen gliding near the ocean floor or in open water, where they feed on mollusks, crustaceans, and small fish, using their powerful jaws to crush hard shells. Eagle rays face threats primarily from habitat loss and degradation, particularly of coral reefs and seagrass beds where they feed and breed, which pose significant risks to their populations.
