The ‘Weightless’ artwork features a powerful underwater still, shot by Daniel Nicholson. For decades, large corporations have poisoned rivers, devastated forests, and displaced communities. Now, they’re rushing to mine minerals from the last untouched frontier on the planet — the deep sea. The deep sea may be vast and unexplored, but it is incredibly important. It encompasses 95% of the ocean’s volume and is the largest and least explored of Earth’s ecosystems. Some scientists believe that the deep sea and its water column may be the largest carbon sink on Earth, and new species are still being found there. Deep-sea mining would dwarf all other mining operations in human history, and it would take place in a part of the planet that we are only just now beginning to understand. If this dangerous experiment goes wrong, it risks triggering a domino effect of unintended consequences that could destabilize the ocean, trigger food insecurity, and affect all life on Earth. Following their label debut ‘Heights’, French production duo Weltmusik return to Purified Records with their majestic two-track ‘Lonely Roads’ EP. Opening with a touching vocal offering, the title track glides across a pristine arrangement with soaring synths, silky vocals and driving percussive elements. Flowing into ‘Crowded Skies’, Weltmusik devise a dreamy soundscape through lofty synths and intricate instrumentals, pushed along by deep rolling bass.

The ‘Lonely Roads’ EP artwork features an aerial image of a coral reef by Daniel Nicholson. Coral reefs, known as the rainforests of the sea, hold a wealth of biodiversity and provide shelter for countless marine species. These intricate structures, formed by the calcium carbonate skeletons of coral polyps, serve as vital breeding grounds and habitats for marine life. Their vibrant colors and unique shapes belie the delicate balance that exists between the coral organisms and the algae that call them home. As climate change drives coral bleaching events, organizations such as the Coral Reef Alliance work towards coral reef conservation and restoration. Acknowledging the significance of coral reefs as not only ecological treasures but also essential contributors to human livelihoods underscores the urgency of collective efforts to protect and preserve these underwater marvels. Organisations like the Coral Restoration Foundation focus on restoring and preserving coral reefs through active propagation and transplantation of corals, enhancing reef health. Returning to Purified Records with a powerful and emotive cut, South African producer Jono Stephenson delivers ‘Midnight Sun’ Ft. Australian vocalist Haptic. Diving into a progressive soundscape with captivating synth work and rumbling bass, this striking arrangement is juxtaposed with Haptic’s serene vocals, exuding a deep and poignant atmosphere.The ‘Midnight Sun’ artwork features a beautiful underwater shot, captured by Daniel Nicholson. The ocean covers over 70% of the Earth's surface, making it the largest continuous ecosystem on the planet. Its total area is approximately 361 million square kilometers (139 million square miles). Phytoplankton, microscopic marine plants found near the ocean's surface, are responsible for producing about half of the world's oxygen through photosynthesis. This makes the ocean a critical component of the Earth's oxygen cycle, vital for supporting life on land. The ocean appears blue due to the selective absorption and scattering of sunlight. Water molecules absorb longer wavelengths of light, such as red and orange, while shorter blue wavelengths are scattered, giving the ocean its characteristic blue color.

The ‘Digital Rain’ artwork shows the River Otta near the town of Lom in Norway, captured after several days of heavy rain by Jan Erik Waider. A fine art photographer based in Hamburg, Germany, Jan is known for capturing abstract landscapes of the northern latitudes. With a focus on water, ice, and intricate natural patterns, his work reveals the beauty hidden in the subtle details of the world around us.

The water, laden with sediments, created striking patterns through the currents. The river’s name likely originates from the Old Norse verb ótta, meaning “to scare” or “to terrify.” Fed by glaciers, the river is known for its strong and fierce flooding, particularly during periods of intense rainfall or glacial melt.
