Festivus : : Epic live shows... All the mud, sweat + beers from the comfort of home

When deciding who should kick off our brand new Live @ Desert Hearts Mix Series, it was pretty much a no brainer to have our contest winner, Rachel Torro, do the honor. Rachel was our very first DJ to lead off our Desert Hearts Spring Festival and it was exactly 15 minutes into her set when the helicopter and police convoy came to shut down the event. With the music turned off and everyone hiding in their tents, a legal standoff with city officials led to one of the most tense hours in Desert Hearts history. We had no idea just how much that near catastrophic event would ultimately set the vibe for the entire weekend. When word got back to the dance floor that the party would go on as planned, Rachel came back on to the most glorious roar of celebration we've ever heard. That was followed by one of the most iconic moments we've ever experienced when an unknown hero on the mic announced, "Welcome to Desert Hearts ladies and gentlemen!"

Following our good friend Lee Burridge past the sunset and well into the day as sandstorms whipped past us in the background we stood amongst friends and strangers (who are just friends we’ve yet to meet) and we danced and celebrated together, participating in the beauty of a shared moment that can only be held in our memories as a mere shadow of what we truly experienced… What an honor to be part of it all. "My first burn… wow!! Still speechless & filled with Playa energy. A full week of breathtaking sunrises, hugging greets, beautiful art, randomness in the biggest sense of the word, cold nights, odd sleeping patterns and 8 days of laughter, love, smiles, tears, energy, sensory overload, dust everywhere, beautiful music and support from familiar faces and new amazing human beings which i can now call my genuine friends. A big THANXXX to Robot Heart for having me. Playing the bus monday morning 4AM after a week of deep playa adventures was the icing on the cake.  Big hugs to all the hard core burners who made it out to dance with me post temple burn.

Hi, here is the recording of my Saturday afternoon set. The beach, the waves, the sea breeze, the people, the sunset. Nothing but love and pure energy. There’s no place where I feel more in my element than at the seaside. It’s the perfect surrounding where I let my creativity run free.  Samples slicing, vocal edits, groovy and housey vibes. This set reflects a lot of me.

This year at Burning Man we were gifted an incredible opportunity by our friend The Festival Guy to perform a secret set at Camp Ego Trip as Daft Punk - complete with helmets and all! We had 45mins to put our spin on things and somehow managed to keep it a total secret this entire time. Easily one of the coolest experiences we've had after 3 years at the Burn and being DP fans for as long as we can remember. Big love to our funk brotha GRiZ for rocking live Sax with us at the very end. Enjoy :)

My mission is to discover and share the most intriguing music I can get my ears on. I always strive for a discerning sensibility to bring together diverse selections. From dance-floors to galleries and lounges, even yoga studios, I adapt well to immerse each space and paint the walls with just the right music for the moment. At once spacious and solid, spontaneous and cohesive, amusing and genuine.

DJ experience began on WRLC college radio ['95-'99] and continued with residencies at several eclectic venues in downtown Jersey City. While playing the bars of NYC and NJ has its charm, I also enjoy bringing music to warehouse spaces, transit plazas, backyards and community gardens, as well as forgotten corners of the forest.

From 2002-17, my humble abode was a cozy live/work space we call Railroad Studio. Serving as an audio/design lab, Railroad has been a memorable feature of city-wide events, bursting with musical performances, live painting and video projection. Our collective includes visual artist Jessie Cara [Railroad's co-creator], local indie-folk band Land of the Look Behind, projectionists Anna Almquist and Liv Arts, light sculptor Norm Francoeur, and vocalists Sirena, Carolyn Light and Bioluminescence. House concerts featured Spinning Leaves [Philly], Lost Leaders [NYC] and Las Vandelays [NJ].

In summer of 2015, we expanded to a sister space in the woodlands north of Philadelphia known as Culture Den, where we merged music, visual arts, and wellness to build community, support local entrepreneurs and foster creativity...
