Dogs Run Free

Yes it's the original theme to James Bond. There's a great Wikipedia article on the theme at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Bond_Theme. It's been re-recorded multiple times to better fit with the film its in - this song has been somewhere in almost all the Bond films.
So this version is electronic - all synths, the drums are samples of a TR-909. I hope you like it!

Finished watching George and Tammy... My mom had a Sons of the Pioneers album (which I still love) and I heard a lot of country music growing up (I had to tell Aviva about George Jones).
Anyway, again, as I was going to sleep I got this sound of slide guitar for the intro, and a cover of Dirty Work was reborn. I learned a few things listening to the pedal steel player on George and Tammy, which I hope showed up in this cover. This has a country feel and I think it works okay. I wish I sang better.

Another song for my next album; this started with a couple of the bass lines and just grew and multiplied. I really like the drum solo that's inspired by ELP's take on Ginastera's 1st piano concerto, 4th movement.

Came together fast - we just finished binging Dexter Original Sin, Dexter, and Dexter: New Blood, hence the title... The second song where I started with a feel and lyrics and then built the song around all that.

This is a fairly symphonic synth song, and it's not short... Some complex time signatures and a few motifs that I think work together to sing about the body of the ocean.

This is maybe the most traditional pop song I've written. The vocals use a voice from Synthesizer V for both the lead and backing vocals. The song is about deep love - the kind of love Seraphim and Cherubim have. And remember - they have 6 wings so they can cover their face and feet.

I was reminded by a friend that we should all slow down, take some time, that'll make everything better.

I initially intended this to be instrumental, and then I heard the old saw "Grief is like a bespoke suit everyone wears it differently" on Criminal Minds, and the lyrics just came to me. This song is also inspired by the five stages of grieving by Elizabeth Kubler-Ross. Less synth, more processed guitar and organ and some piano too. And some odd time signatures also.

Dying Is Easy Living Is Hard

This is a short meditation for the middle of my next album - think of it as an instrumental breath. Its two acoustic guitars and that's all.

This is straight up rock, two guitars, organ/synth, bass and drums. And vocals too.

Heart Break

I've been working on this one through retinal reattachment surgery and after care. It started with the opening sound collage and then the heartbeat quiet building section, then had the idea for a piano solo in the middle... Lots of dynamic range inside.

I Cannot See

This is the more danceable track on the album... I was inspired by New Orleans funeral processions. I started with the title "dance on my grave" and googled it - and that wasn't what I was feeling so I swapped on with upon, as for me "dance upon my grave" is a celebration that I made it through life. There are some lyrics, and there are places where the rhythm goes away - that's why I tagged it prog rock also. Its all synthesizers... One of my roots...

An instrumental, the soul leaves the body and travels around. All synthesizers - no guitar, bass or organ (the bass is synth too). The drums are a new Tekno synth kit from Baby Audio that I wanted to try out - I clones midi beats from EzDrummer and resorted them to play the right bits of kit in Tekno. Having eye surgery seems to have brought something more out...

Back in the early 2000s I spent quality time in Amsterdam for work. One late night we closed out the restaurant at a hotel (it was after 1AM the kitchen was closed but they'd give us what they had left). We spent over an hour eating, drinking and arguing about whether the world was plural or singular... those were the days. This song argues that it depends on your perspective.

How Do You Dance On Uranus

Music by Aleph Naught and the Null Set. I'm a husband and father and have an adorable schipperke, Ozzy.  I started playing music when I was 10 (I did take 3 accordion lessons at 7) - my family built a Schober Theater Organ from a kit. I played in some bands in and after college, largely writing and sometimes as the informal band leader. I have a special place in my heart and ears for progressive rock. I've traded a U of keyboards and two racks of equipment for a Mac Pro w/ Logic and a bunch of AU plugins.
