Frente Bolivarista is excited to present the single "Macelada" by Tempura the Purple Boy & Edgar Valente on their new duo entitled BANDUA. 

The song is part of their upcoming album set for January 2022.

On ''Macelada,'' Tempura & Edgar Valente rework a Portuguese classic, reimagining the well known traditional song as a psychedelic desert record, adding in elements inspired by the region’s landscape. The track features a deep and commanding bass line played by Tempura and eerie atmospheres created from reversed pianos and guitars flying in and out, all of which support the beautifully haunting voice of Edgar Valente, who adopts a gender interplay and sings the song from a woman's perspective, further engaging the musicians with the genderless character of Bandua, the deity chosen to give the name to the project and album.

Conceived by Portuguese/Brazilian musician, sound-explorer and eclectic producer Tempura (Bernardo D'Addario) and Portuguese singer and all-round musician Edgar Valente,

Bandua's new single is filled with a gentle beat, soft pads and Edgar Valente's gentle vocal tapestry, ‘Cinco Sentidos’ (Five Senses) is a traditional love song from the village of Benquerenças de Baixo that has been sung for generations in which the singer compares his love to losing all of their bodily senses.

Bandua takes the centuries-old, traditional music from the Beira Baixa region of Portugal, and re-imagines it with an electronic folk reinterpretation. Conceived by Portuguese/Brazilian musician, sound-explorer and eclectic producer Tempura (Bernardo D'Addario) and Portuguese singer and all-round musician Edgar Valente, Bandua represents the first time that these sounds and songs have been repurposed as a melancholic, Portuguese-language electronic pop record.

Influenced by pagan and Moorish traditions, Beira Baixa is a central region of Portugal steeped in ancient culture with a rugged, hyper-regionalised history of folk music. With both artists having roots in the region, it felt right for them to collaborate and produce this love-letter to their homes. “Bandua is a reinterpretation of traditional Portuguese songs from the Beira Baixa region, bringing them into the modern world,” explains Tempura “we wanted to create something new, while not forgetting where we came from.”

Through Bandua, this ancient tradition of story-telling through percussive, multi-toned music will now find a new generation of listeners, thanks to Tempura and Edgar Valente.

➳ The bass is pumping, the strobes are flickering and the heavy sweat and gas from the smoke machine are filling up the room. It’s a quarter past 2 AM in Berlin and it feels like an eternity since the evening began. 

➳ A familiar and yet nervous excitement starts to travel from his head deep into his chest. A cloud of anxiety sits above him, together with the presence of an intense feeling of flight. He knows he can’t run. This is his chance to lighten up the room as he had always dreamed of doing, to take the souls in the room on a journey they could possibly never forget. 

➳ A sudden flashback brings him back to the time when he felt he had a clear vision on how his music needed to sound like. It needed to have a certain speed, a certain groove and bring a certain energy into the room. The conviction that he was on the right path was so strong that he thought there could be no other way. Little did he know. 

➳ As time went by, the signs began to show that something else was needed: a new approach, a new vision, a new energy. He believed the time had come to explore other paths and lighten the way for them.

➳ In the end it’s always a matter of timing, setting, and believing in yourself. There is a time and place for everything, but even in that everything there is a time and place for nothing. It’s about flexibility, malleability, and the ability to tap into your own sensitivity. To realize where and who are you now and to shift the focus into where you want to go and who do you want to be. 

➳ This was the moment where he went beyond his very own perception, where the past and present merged into each other, making way for the future. And just like that, in the blink of an eye he found himself back in the middle of the crowd, surrounded by sweat, smoke and the music blasting through the speakers. Looking around one last time, focusing on each individual part of the space he was in, he realised that it was time to bring forth a new energy.

It's about time again, our eighth compilation finally sees the light of day. It is peppered with wonderful pearls from the most diverse styles of the downtempo coast and, as always, is intended to reflect the variety of our favorite genre.

Again, we tried to find the right mix between friends who have been with us for a long time and have been shaping the downtempo scene for years, paired with a large number of newcomers who convinced us with their sound quality and approach to production.

The compilation was mastered by our engineer of trust Haunted Water and the signature artwork was contributed as always by Kilian Van De Water. Enjoy listening.

After the release of their self titled and acclaimed first album, Bandua return with their latest single ''Pena no Peito I,'' in a string of new releases in 2024. 

Pena no Peito is a traditional folk song from the Beira Baixa region of Portugal originally called ''Canção da Tristeza.'' The song was discovered (or rather) taught to Bandua by the resident and celebrated singer folk Idalina Gameiro during an artistic residency in the village of Penha Garcia, where the song finds its birthplace.

Abstract visions that come and go like the dream that stays overnight in your sleep, one moment revealing itself as reality, to suddenly surprise us with the truth, that actually it was just another ride through our inner unknown, during a night of deep sleep. It’s here that our past, present and future come together and reveal themselves in the most raw of manners. If it was possible to freely navigate our dreams at will, then the soundtrack would probably sound a lot like this.

A new cycle begins, an old one ends, the pages turn, and the beat goes on

Sometime around the end of 2013 when I was living in Rotterdam, I got a phone call one night from ‘this guy’ and he told me that I should come and visit him in Berlin. I thought to myself ‘’yeah why not? I’ve never been there before and i’ve got 12 days off from work to kill.’’ So I packed my bags and hopped on a plane, no expectations, just looking forward to the journey. Little did I know that my life would change after that. DCMB wasn’t even alive back then, but it was a tiny dream slowly growing and coming alive inside the belly of Berlin

  That city is and continues to be one if not my favourite place on this planet. All the experiences i’ve collected there over the years, the people i’ve met who I now consider family, the music I discovered which is now an integral part of my life, Berlin has been partly responsible for the shaping of who I am as a person and musician today. And DCMB has been there since day one

For this reason and many more i’ve tried to capture this never ending love story with a DJ set full of some of my favorite tracks, old and new, and a few of my own productions
