After collaborating with Droid brothers Raiz back in 2012, Jeff Derringer returns to Electric Deluxe with his first solo effort for the label – a solid two-tracker of rigorous dancefloor material we’ve come to expect from the Chicago resident.

Behind the decks, Jeff Derringer is a name well known as founder and visionary of the renowned Oktave parties in the US. And in recent years he has built up a solid discography to match. An impressive debut on New York-based label Subtrak back in 2010 caused Perc’s Ali Wells to sit up and take notice. A trio of Perc Trax releases quickly followed, laying the foundations for Jeff’s dark and hypnotic style of techno that has since been picked up by labels M_Rec Recordings and Prosthetic Pressings. Jeff’s last work with Raiz for EDLX, ‘Deception EP’, was merciless, robust and went straight in for the kill. And his solo effort, 'Beat to Quarters', is no different. 

Title track opens with spitting hats and chugging intent before space-blips, ticks and typical Derringer-charged atmospherics storm in. EDLX mainstay Giorgio Gigli then ups the ante on his “Variation” with swirling foreboding strings and muted mutant clicks, turning “Beat To Quarters” into a menacing 8 minute-long epic. Then on the flip, Jeff goes in weirder with “The Stranger”. Full of itchy claps, crashes and deep space tones there’s plenty here to keep you busy. The EP concludes with a cool and creeping remix from Voices From the Lake – their first outing on the label. Voices From the Lake is of course Donato Dozzy and Neel’s much-celebrated experimental project. It’s with great pleasure we welcome them aboard.

Italian club staple and producer Kaiser turns to MOC for his Debris EP, showcasing three agile Techno slices and a remix from Exploration Records chief Johannes Volk.

“Parachute” opens up the release in a spellbinding, energy-heavy manner, with its whirlwind groove and lead taking no prisoners. Next up is “Debris”, showing off an equally energetic prowess channeling zig zagging synths and a more melodic, yet still heavy strung bassline. “Esplosione Di Colori”, translated as ‘color explosion’ aptly translates into sound what is usually only possible for a paint canvas. A lighthearted, arpegio-ridden track in original, Johannes Volk works his magic, turning it into a versatile piece of raw, dubby Techno.

After a 5-year hiatus, Damage Music Berlin is back with label-head Alexander Kowalski’s first release since his last full-length record „Cycles“ on Mord in May 2018. „The Path“ EP features 3 swirling, muddy techno tracks which encapsulate the spirit of the artist’s Berlin studio where they were produced, and amplify to big room techno. Making use of his strong-headed percussion work, Alexander Kowalski either injects full-throttle driving muscle, like in title track „The Path“, marks the pace for a deeper trip with „Moment of Knowledge“, or dims it down to a somber mood in the B2 „Thoughts of a Dying Atheist“. Non-Series head Psyk signs his take on title track „The Path“ with a remix that showcases the Spanish producer’s mastery in loopy, hypnotic techno.

Italian artist Anfisa Letyago debuts on Rekids delivering two captivating cuts, including two brilliant remixes from Mark Broom.

For over a decade, this Neapolitan DJ and producer has been renowned for her hard-hitting techno tracks on labels like Redrum and Intec. She now debuts on Radio Slave’s Rekids, following the likes of Laurent Garnier, Spencer Parker, Hybrasil, P.Leone, and SRVD.

‘I’d Rather B’ starts with shaking percussions into soul styled vocals, fading out to deeper and darker tones, before ‘Pump It’ progresses into a smooth acidic background completed with a subtle groove undertone. Warp Records and Cocoon artist Mark Broom returns to Rekids with two remixes of ‘I’d Rather B’.
The first leads with a stomping bass and rupturing sirens, generating an atmospheric aesthetic from start to finish, whilst the second focuses more on the groove – introducing piercing claps, rattling hats and small bursts of vocals cries as the track continues to build.

Whenever Erol Alkan sits in the studio, magic is always around the corner and 'Spectrum' proved to be one of his best original productions yet.

On remix duty then, it seemed only right that Erol enlisted one of the best in the business and Paul Woolford's Special Request alias never misses. 

While we're only a few weeks into 2020, we're already confident that this Kaleidoscopic Mix (one of two remixes on the EP) will remain one of our favourite edits of the year. It's deep, it's dreamy and oh does it bang.

Erol x Paul, well, that's just silly isn't it.

Hailing from Granada, Spain, Mordisco is the collaborative DJ and production moniker of Hugo and Angel. As organizers and curators of the Mordisco Club evenings in their hometown, the duo has played a big part in bringing high ranking tastemakers to the area, ranging from Red Axes, Fort Romeau and John Talabot, over to Pional and Jeniffer Cardini. Their production work recently found home on My Favorite Robot Records and Coloray’s freshly forged Intercept imprint.

Continuing to blur the lines between contemporary electronics, Mordisco lands on Atomnation with their vivid three tracker 'Ventura'. Our pick of the bunch 'Odissi' showcases the duo's trademark retro tinged disco and deep house sound, brimming with psychedelic reminiscences, vibrant percussions and hypnotic progressions.
