Valentino (CA) - Good Orderly Direction

Few artists in underground electronic music come around to not only inspire, but they serve a purpose and leave their mark not only within their sound, but within the sound of others. Valentino (CA) is that guy.

The bold second half of the Tech House producer duo Valentino (CA) Colavecchia and Vincenzo Nicolazzo, affectionately known as “The Junkies”, pummelled clubs all around the world in the early to mid 2000s with their raw Tech House aesthetic not giving up an inch of space to the waste that was commercial EDM (that’s another story and we won’t digress here).

Never had we heard so much clarity and depth with cracking drums presented in created song arrangement and techniques that introduce a flammed snare, creative percussion, and more importantly rolling sub basses. So much so, the sound caught the ears of Nicole Moudaber, Carl Cox, and Dubfire’s SCI TEC imprint leading to consistent releases and remixes.

Back home their inspiration in Toronto’s legacy clubs continued including The Guvernment, Footwork, and CODA along with projects on Carlo Lio and Nathan Barato’s Rawthentic while quietly inspiring a guy named Demuir on the sidelines. We need not explain the significance any further.

After taking a hiatus from music and fast forwarding to 2021, Valentino let it be known the arsenal of tracks that defined a tougher edge Tech House never stopped. In fact, we are just being let into the next phase as Demuir discovered in a blistering 4 hour B2B set with Valentino at Toronto’s Comfort Zone during a Purveyor Underground label showcase. We are ecstatic to host Valentino’s return and believe this sound ignites the brand of underground Tech House we’ve been waiting for.

Our symbol goes back to time where African American slaves were fleeing in search of their freedom to understand the truth in freedom by breaking free from the chains and running away from oppression.  This symbol was carved in the floors of various sympathetic churches and homes through the Underground Railroad that helped slaves escape the horrific untruth in their lives to find true freedom and to be recognized as contributing human lives in society.
