Dembou captures a collision of heat and grit. @Funka channels the pulse of Latin percussion into a framework built for late-night floors, where raw rhythms lock in with weighty low-end pressure. The grooves stay tight and propulsive, yet there’s a darker edge threading through the production, giving each drop a sense of urgency. The result is a hybrid that feels both ancestral and forward-leaning—roots in motion, basslines twisting, energy rising. Dembou stands as a sharp statement of Funka’s sound: instinctive, pulsing, and unmistakably alive.

Head of the Gqom Oh! label, Nan Kolè has been undertaking a massive project over the past few months. Allying with Rome-based radio station Crudo Volta, Kolè has been travelling around South Africa, and Durban in particular, to investigate the various shades of Gqom that are gradually emerging. For many of these artists, the resultant Woza mixtape and the accompanying documentary are their first chance at exposure outside of the country. It's also an opportunity to contextualise Gqom and educate the rest of the world about the culture as a whole. Crafting a balance of the biggest hitters in the scene, the biggest tracks and those most representative of the sound and its scene must have been a difficult tightrope to walk. One of our favourites—and it really was tough to pick just one—was "Cruel Drumz", a dubby example of the gritty, minimal, bass-heavy sound of Gqom by Cruel Boyz (whose "Touch It" we premiered last year).

release following Septembers ‘Animals’ EP from Jumping Back Slash. 

Yeke 002 comes from Bubas Produçoes, 5 tracks of cutting percussion, emotional melodies, rhythmic horns and unmistakably Lisbon grooves.

A mainstay of the younger generation of Portugal’s burgeoning
Afro House/Contemporary club scene, Bubas hails from Lisbon’s Queluz- Belas district, taking inspiration from the scenes figureheads,including DJ Maboku, Lilocox and Lycox who have all helped shape the fundamental sound of Afro Lisbon.

Each track creates its own unique insignia, a danceable and varied
insight through the lens of a fresh young producer, proudly flying the flag of an ever-growing scene which shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

Esse Remix tem uma história especial. Minha primeira música lançada no Soundcloud, no começo de 2017, foi um Edit dessa mesma faixa da dupla @oshuniverse. Seis meses depois eu deletei pois já havia melhorado muito minha produção e aquilo não me representava mais. Já não faço mais isso de deletar, porque sei que no fim é minha história e que vou sempre estar melhorando. 
Enfim, hoje, quase quatro anos depois, resolvi produzir novamente do zero esse Remix e dar um pau no Vincee de 2017 hahaha. Quando eu pego pra escutar a versão antiga não dá pra acreditar na diferença...
O resultado está ai! Espero que gostem, é um som muito importante pra mim, carregado de memorias...
