After how well-received Time Heals All was, I already knew I was going to write a follow-up.  I had in mind that I would build upon the themes and ideas of the previous album and try to expand upon them slightly, while trying to retain everything that made Time Heals All so special.  Truth Be Told is 9 short stories based around love, depression, fantasy and my ever on-going fixation with science fiction.  I hope you find this album as rich and rewarding as the experience I had making it.

"Arriving into Temple, already dipped into the most sacred silence and the most daring sounds, not seeing but feeling the familiar faces and expert listeners was somehow intimidating, but also encouraging and exciting. I had prepared a hybrid live set, djing several recordings and reviewed old tracks i compiled through the year, on preparation of another live set for Mostra, and a sp404+FX full of sounds, sampled movies, sequences and patterns to fill the gaps and refill the most dance-oriented moments of the set so there could be a little more entropy and fun.

The idea was the "interruptus' vibe where full dances would be difficult but the movement and weird hand twists would arrive through extra filterings, complex pseudo beats and dub passages of the set.

The sound and gear at Espacio Perpendicular are also intimidating for those of us not used to such definition, so the experience was even more brilliant. Doing lo-fi processes into a hi-fi system is such bless.

Junya Yamamura began his career as a DJ and organizer while studying abroad in New York. After returning to Japan, he has continued to curate unique parties that transform various spaces—ranging from nightclubs to art venues—primarily in Tokyo. In 2021, he launched his event series “lift” alongside Ryosuke Tushiya of Pflaume Sound.

Mix Description:

This mix was recorded during an open set at my party, “lift.” Designed to set the tone before a live performance, it focuses on creating a deep and introspective atmosphere. Through gradual transitions, the mix evolves to shift the energy of the space, maintaining a serious and immersive vibe.

Inspired by music and art at a very young age, Mill H, the tattoo artist-turned-DJ, has been exploring his art of sound since 2009.
Mill’s selection is beyond the boundary of genres and styles. The music he chooses to play often embraces a rich texture and reflects the atmosphere of the crowd and venue. For Mill, a great DJ set is a journey of balancing and merging the mind and music aurally feeling the space; physically expressing the emotion.
Beside being a regular selector on the local circuit and underground parties, he has also been invited to play for the first ever Hong Kong Boiler Room together with the members of Utopia.

This is a vinyl mix containing 30 out of the 49 of the records I acquired in 2024.

Looking over those 49 records, I will say that I have doubled down on the dubby rhythms, totally neglected the UK sound and stayed strong on the trippy techno buzz. In general, I am seeking out more stripped back minimal tracks, be that of house or techno, and I do not entertain as much "aggressive" music as I used to (except in the live setting).

My favourite record from this year might be Hess & Fürstenberg - Campfire Dialogue on Echocord Color, of which both sides were included in this mix. These tracks make for great transitions up and down in tempo and atmosphere.

In terms of my Plattenladen habits - Hard Wax and Audio In reign supreme 👑

Growing up in different areas of England, on a steady diet of Motown, Techno & the blossoming UK Hardcore scene, his productions manage to encompass such a wide range of these influences. Starting out DJ’ing with a bunch of like- minded friends on pirate radio stations while still in school, ASC soon found himself getting interested in how the tracks he was playing were made. This led to an investment in a modest studio setup, which proved to be a defining point in James’ life.

An initial batch of tracks were written between 1997-1999, and eventually a 7 track demo appeared, of which 6 were signed to West Midlands based Nu Directions, and the remaining track was signed to LTJ Bukem’s well known Good Looking Records. Around about the same time, the offer came to sign to Good Looking exclusively, but James felt this wasn't the right move for him at the time, so after a handful of successful releases on these labels and a few others, he started his own label, Covert Operations, which went on to put out a total of 30 vinyl releases & 8 CD’s between 2000 & 2009.

After receiving much praise for his intricately detailed and well thought out productions, ASC amassed a serious back catalogue of releases on some of the most forward thinking labels out there, such as 720 Degrees, Offshore, and Paradox’s Outsider label.

2010 saw the release of 'Nothing Is Certain', the ground breaking LP which received critical acclaim from many of the top music magazine, blogs and sites. This marked a culmination of the 'new' ASC sound that had started to form steadily over the last few years. Gone were the old jungle breaks, replaced by a more cross-over friendly IDM style sound. This was music that reached far outside of the drum & bass circles that ASC had been confined to and it did so with great success.

Auxiliary is ASC's new label and where he focuses the majority of his underground releases these days. Outside of that, James has been busy working with Hollywood music companies such as Liquid Cinema, releasing a library of custom tracks designed specifically for film, adverts and TV. Add to this a love for ambient and techno production and it's easy to see why he is rated so highly by his peers and fans, as he is able to turn his hand to most sounds with ease.
