In a nutshell, African house music (dubbed with the name "Afro House") has its origins from South Africa. It started in the early 90s when Kwaito - slower style of house music - started to emerge in Johannesburg especially when Nelson Mandela was elected. It represented liberation and freedom.

Djs wanted to keep the essence of Kwaito but increased the tempo to 125 bpm and incorporated African vocals and sounds. This is a tribal infused genre which can include songs in an African language, others offer a blast to the past with the usage of old South African songs, chants, and folklore.

Why do I have it in my repertoire despite my passion to Angolan culture? Because Afro House has reached Angola like a storm from South Africa and nowadays has a significant scene beside other genres. However, Angolan djs and producers added some kuduro influence as well.
The most known producers who represent this: Djeff aka Afrozilla, Boddhi Satva, Dj Malvado, CDM Deejays, Mbambu Records...and many more

In this mix you can listen first to some underground tracks to classic afro house and closing with a few kuduro. Enjoy
