The recording of my set of Dans Agogo party at Bina / Istanbul on 26.07.2024. 

Together with Ana Flavia and Ahu we united to create a series of parties called Dan Agogo. Our first official show took place in Istanbul. We had one of those unforgettable nights, when every song and every dance was bringing us closer to Brazil - the home of Ana Flavia and Ahu's and mine's imaginary musical paradise.

Originating from Istanbul, a night of vibrant rhythms and captivating sounds curated by two women DJs from Brazil and Poland. @hellodansagogo is designed to connect Brazilian rhythms with Turkish psychedelia—finding ties in 70s Polish disco and far beyond through an eclectic and soulful musical journey with splendid guests DJs and collaborators.
  
@djanaflavia, a São Paulo native, has been a versatile DJ and curator in the Brazilian scene for over two decades, blending electronic and organic sounds. She joined the curator team at Saye Kolektif when moved Türkiye and now calls Istanbul home, also playing in important venues in the city and around Europe. 

@kornelia-binicewicz, a Polish-origin DJ, record collector, Ladies on Records project creator, music compilation creator, curator and storyteller. Her passion for music brought her to Turkey. She has lived in Istanbul since 2015 and travels worldwide, searching for mesmerizing music and meaningful stories to tell.

Dans Agogo brings vibrant cultures to the dance floors through a diverse curated selection - with tropical clichés, uncensored 80’s disco music, house, samba, melody funk, bossa, boogie as the core, straight to the middle-easter and global groove gems.

Coco Em African House Mix | Boiler Room x Ballantine’s True Music Kenya

In Hour 1 as part of our 30th anniversary week, we welcome Kevin Martin aka The Bug, who first appeared on Solid Steel in 1998 as part of ICE and you can hear this archive mix at SolidSteel.net . He told us;
"Having been a dub nerd for so many years, my opinion of post ’Sleng Teng’ cyber-reggae was foolishly blinkered in the mid 90’s, but when i heard the ‘Streetsweeper Riddim’ by Steely & Clevie  = game over… My opinion of Bashment/Ragga/Dancehall was immediately reversed upon contact with that one sick riddim series, as Burro Banton fiercely chanted “Boom Wha Dis” mercilessly, or Capleton caught fire on ‘Final Assassin’..
At that time, as a resident of North West London, resistance was futile, and i was fully hooked on trips to Dub Vendor or various hole in the wall black wax emporiums in the Harlesden area, as i became uncontrollably addicted to buying waves of 7” riddims that were dropping relentlessly from Jamaica.
This mix is my tip of the hat to the incredible producers that emerged from Ja’s Dancehall scene…Ppl like Dave Kelly, Steely & Clevie, Lenky etc were sonic futurists to me, and their alien arrangements  indelibly marked my ears and my own style of production, and still to this day…Their bionic bogle fuel, some of which is included here, sounds as fresh to me now as it did upon release….
But also, it’s been my aim for years, since naming myself The Bug and devoting myself to sound system culture, to try and develop my own mutant dancehall vocabulary. A quest, that begun with my Razor X label and album ‘Pressure’, via my ACID RAGGA releases, and still shows no sign of halting, as i chase the holy grail of constructing a new style of raggamuffin Sci-Fi. Ive included prototypes and demos of what will form future Bug releases here, as a sketchbook for listeners and myself, and a clear sign of intent, and to show how much i still worship Jamaica’s incredible musical innovations.
I wanted this tribute to Jamaica’s electronic legacy, to reflect a past, present and future of bashment mutations. And right now, with so many great producers like Equiknoxx, Epic B, Stereotyp, Mr. Mitch, Low Jack, Errorsmith, Still  etc etc all fighting the fight for future shock dancehall, it seemed the right time to put together a mix like this one…And as i used to regularly tune into Coldcut’s tripped out SOLID STEEL radio transmissions many many moons ago, its a pleasure to deliver my first mix for Solid Steel since the mixes me and JK Flesh delivered as ICE in the late nineties. Solid Steel has always encouraged freedom of movement and surprises in their choices, and i wanted to ensure i did something special to celebrate the diversity of the show down the years"
