Welcome to the 27TH release for PuzzleProjectsMusic, brought to us by the exciting Italian Producers; Jose Dicaro and Flavio MP and British producer and PPM label boss Ben Spalding.

PuzzleProjectsMusic welcomes Jose Dicaro, an artist who has performed with icons such as Jeff Mills, Henrik Schwarz & Motor City Drum Ensemble at various shows across Europe while dedicating his creative energy to his own music.

Jose's deep love of funk, disco and house music are highly evident throughout his work, paired with his sonic agility and deep knowledge cement his ability to traverse a wide range of production styles. 

‘The Assessment’ (Original mix) utilises a long and enticing piece of dialogue to form its core identity. Around that, Jose builds a mesmerising piano-led arrangement. The piano keys and bass line roll in parallel perfection to one another to create that classic and utterly infectious house feel.

Label head Ben Spalding reunites with the superb Flavio MP for the remix. Following on from their critically acclaimed ‘Mind The Gap’ EP released last year, the pair explore their formidable creative alliance again to utterly devastating effect.

On their potent rework, the pair retain the same dialogue while taking the mood sinister. A gnarly, pounding bassline layered with various effects is added to the arrangement, designed to transport the listener to the dark and deeper side. In typical Spalding style, the track features a totally unexpected switch up, paired with key points where the energy shifts or often builds up into an explosive crescendo, following unorthodox patterns - anything but formulaic or predictable.

Welcome to the 31st release for @PuzzleProjectsMusic brought to us by the French producer @FunkeeSoundsMusic and the Mexican producer @Hotmood.

Entering his third year with PuzzleProjectsMusic and yet again, rising Parisian star FunkeeSounds showcases his immaculate and defined style of Nu-Disco production - with the super fresh ‘ROCKIN’ DA HOUSE’ EP.

For the second time this year, he teams up with Mexican trailblazer Hotmood - last time, Funkeesounds remixed Hotmood on the critically acclaimed ‘Let’s Do It’ EP. This time around, Hotmood handles the remix for Frenchman. 

The original mix works off a rousing, enchanting disco foundation and a four-to-the-floor beat that pumps and bounces with heft. At the low end, it’s a straight-up groove, with electric guitar licks adding flair and dynamism. As usual from Funkeesounds, this is a Smörgåsbord of instrumentation, with multiple layers feeling alive with an organic tone.

For the Hotmood remix, the Mexican wonder opts for a more nuanced approach. His minimal rework retains plenty of the original’s character, with a more subtle low-end and stripped-back percussion. A breakdown midway through adds a burst of energy, while the track continues with its deadly lo-slung groove to the very end.

Label boss Ben Spalding and Flavio MP released their first collaboration ‘Mind The Gap’ EP in early 2021 on @PuzzleProjectsMusic to widespread critical acclaim in the Tech House scene from the likes of Marco Carola, Riva Starr, Chris Lake, Joseph Capriati, Roger Sanchez, Claude Von Stroke, Richie Hawtin and countless more worldwide. 

Their partnership has led to a fast-growing catalogue of raw underground bangers that defy standardised and predictable arrangements, whilst still wielding the potency to set the dance floor ablaze. On this new release ‘Off The Rails’ EP – the duo again combine to devastating effect.

The opening track on the EP ‘WASTER’ is specifically designed for opening a peak-time set - teases in so gently – setting the atmosphere in ruthless style, earth-shattering bass kicks set the tone immediately with raw power, paired with a paired-back bassline and short but perfectly complimentary vocal clips. Building the energy gradually, Ben and Flavio's unorthodox build-ups and drops transform the track into an electrifying and relentless monster.

On the flip, we have ‘SPECTRUM’ (Orginal Mix) which dunks us in the darker end of the dance floor. An elasticated bassline lies at the core of this one, with sinister atmospherics as the naughty story unfolds. The vocal and instrumental - razor-sharp hats and pumpin’ kicks as standard - complement each other perfectly, providing a dark, alluring backdrop to the hedonism of the club environment. An extended breakdown allows for Ben and Flavio to truly deepen the impact of this menacing cut and the well-executed break towards the end sends us into the latter part of the track fully energised.

Finally, the duo gift us with a Dub Mix of ‘SPECTRUM’. This alternate but utterly euphoric cut strips away the vocals and presents a minimal rework of the original, emphasising the moody atmospherics and irresistibly contagious drum patterns. This is a hypnotic stomper that grips you right from the off and pulls you way down deep into its gloomy lair.

Ben Spalding welcomes Portuguese duo Bubba Brothers for a debut release on PuzzleProjectsMusic. The two friends, Eliseu Correia and Justino Santos are steadily building a cult following through their wild parties in the Algarve and through their take on big room-targeted house and techno.

Releases such as ‘No Name Song’ have established the Bubba Brothers sound within the underground scene. Remix duty sees label head Ben Spalding showcase the first of several, minimalistic and naughty bass-heavy Tech House productions created with rising Mexican producer Dan Ros.

‘CARL'S GROOVE’ follows on from the duo’s debut single ‘Carla’s Beat’, released back in 2019. This cut utilises razor-sharp hats and snares alongside a grumbling bassline to devastating effect. Extra layers and elements are gradually added to increase the tension and energy, creating a compelling cut. With an acute understanding of flow and what works on the dance floor, the Bubba Brothers keep the pressure up, using a soulful vocal clip in the track’s second, and most potent, breakdown.

For the remix, Ben and Dan flip the script completely by dismantling the original mix into a taut, narcotic-driven composition.

Entry into the cut is unsettling and designed to be dropped as a massive floor heater at short notice. As the arrangement develops, multiple, typical Spalding-Esque provocation and suspense points take control and unpredictably mutate through the simplistic 4/4 house template to devastating effect. Key shift vocals paired seductive synth and chord stabs complete this unique and potent remix.

Ben Spalding and Dan Ros share their next release to the world showcasing a sound design that's strongly focused on hypnotic, creeping, gritty, trippy warehouse rave-inspired electronic music - the highly original end creation diving somewhere between the darker realm of offbeat, almost cinematic Minimal Tech House.

A tireless studio collaboration back in 2021, which kicked off with their lauded Winter 2022 remix of ‘Carl’s Groove.’ The initial collaboration unexpectedly spawned into nearly ten rave cuts in the works that have proceeded to attract forthcoming remixes from German live act Christian Burkhardt, among others.

The original mix sees Dan and Ben flexing their creative muscle to produce a playful, deep, and engaging cut. An assault of highly provocative vocal clips from one of Ben’s favourite films unfolds throughout the arrangement. Spalding’s trademark penchant for composing unusual, weird, and suspenseful arrangements gives ‘NO SLEEP’ its unique character in perfect marriage with Dan’s passion for powerful groove. Hefty lo-end combines to spectacular effect with deep undulating bass tones, while an extended breakdown leads into an explosive second half.

Fabric Club (London) regular Jake Beautyman was specifically brought in for remix duties to create a higher energy cut and delivered in absolute perfection. Jake strips away the raucous drums and adds more organic sounding percussion, while the groaning low end remains intact. Mysterious sounding sci-fi effects add to the nuanced atmosphere of this rolling remix. Jake’s musicality shines through, as he unleashes a simple, yet highly effective melody during the breakdown with the wildest of chord stabs slicing immaculately through the sleazy lo-end.

After four relentless years, this is the last release on PuzzleProjectsMusic until 2024.

Based in The Midlands & a core member and resident of the Freerotation Festival, Tom Ellis has been releasing funk & jazz inspired house & techno since 2003, when he launched Trimsound, his first label, which was co-run with Leif.

His vast discography includes over 40 EPs and 7 albums. 

His early appearances on Mindtours and Trimsound led to worldwide recognition & further releases & remixes for Archipel, Good Ratio Music, Classic, Philpot, Moon Harbour, Leap, Telegraph, Logistic, Black Key Records, Eye4Eye, Floppy Funk, Morris Audio, Flumo, Supremus Records, Hartchef Discos, Minibar, Highgrade, Klamauk, and Som Bom (the electronic spin-off label run by fellow Welsh men, Super Furry Animals) & many, many more.

Tom's DJ & Live sets have taken him across the globe with gigs as far afield as Moscow, Tokyo, Montreal, Guatemala, and Honduras, as well as regular appearances across Europe.

2016 saw the launch of his new solo label, In Modo Di, with the first record landing high in the bestseller charts, and the launch of his new monthly radio show on KMAH Radio, The Taunton Loft Sessions.

Welcome to the 13th label release for @PuzzleProjectsMusic.

Aimed squarely at the dance floor & with mastering by @Christian-Burkhardt & @JanDriver, the latest PuzzleProjectsMusic release comes in the form of a fully original debut release from label head - UK 🇬🇧 producer @BenSpaldingOfficial & @RonaldChristoph- the renowned German 🇩🇪 musician and producer.

The duo struck up a prolific partnership, with a number of tracks produced in just a few days of studio time. The creative chemistry led to a batch of cuts that project visceral energy, designed to get people moving. With particular attention given to the sound design, these tunes are ideal for massive rigs. These are weapons-grade rave tracks full of dynamism and energy lingering between Acid House & Detroit Techno.

First up is 'Thumper' (PPM0022) which lets us know exactly what this release is all about - the rave. As the title suggests this one stomps all over the dance floor, early rave influences pulsate through its bloodstream, with a slammin' bassline, adding in a streetwise vocal sample and inject riotous energy with an unusual, yet highly effective breakdown. 

Next up is 'Burning It Down' (PPM0023), which ensnares you from the off with its alluring bassline. A sensual, acid-flecked cut, 'Burning It Down' features two distinct vocals, one male and one female, both describing a 'dance floor made of matches'. Later, the male voice narrates a late-night tale, as old school piano keys pepper the background. It's a wildly infectious start to the release with persuasive energy and rhythmic arrangement designed to put you into a state of musical hypnosis.

Ben Spalding and Ronald Christoph have cultivated a fruitful relationship in the studio, combining their respective experience and creativity to produce absolute dynamite. They have bonded with each other to maximum effect and blending their best ideas to create truly unique original grooves. Straight-up club vibes for diehard ravers. 

Expect big things to come from this pair in the coming years.
