Welcome to the 29TH release for PuzzleProjectsMusic, brought to us by the excellent Russian producer Sunner Soul.

Time for a sojourn into the Funkasphere with Sunner Soul making his debut on PuzzleProjectsMusic with a scintillating doubleheader. The Russian producer has a glittering track record for reworking vintage soul, funk and disco with his unique sonic fingerprint. A renowned and prolific artist, his knowledge of music combined with his versatility and natural talent make him the perfect addition to the PuzzleProjectMusic family.

This two-track release kicks off with ‘Boogie Waves’, an aptly-titled track that leans heavily into the glorious vibes that only come through the realest and truest funk. Classic drum arrangements get the track moving along nicely, with an infectious funkafied groove in the low end. Sunner Soul utilises an old vocal sample to add a layer of soulful vibrations, with the beats chugging along and transporting us back to the rockin’ seventies.

On the flip ‘Supafrika’ keeps the groove flowing, evoking a sunkissed summertime atmosphere. The laid-back tempo complements a gorgeous vocal, which is bound to touch your soul thanks to its smooth, emotive delivery. This cut’s percussive elements are constructed with expert knowledge of the era from which the track is inspired. Combined with the delectable bassline and its uplifting mood this is a sure-fire dance floor bomb for the boogie mob.

Welcome to the 30TH release for PuzzleProjectsMusic, brought to us by the talented Brazilian Musician Katorzi.

Katorzi returns with a superb three-track release turbo-charged with super funky Brazilian flavours, these cuts demonstrate Katorzi's exemplary production skills and natural born propensity for the funk, the whole funk and nothing but the funk. 

First up, 'The Funk Is Real' kicks off the EP with hefty 4x4 beats and groovy guitar licks riding a sublime bassline. As the track progresses, Katorzi adds his vocals that gradually builds with additional samples, creating a mesmerising atmosphere. This is a celebratory cut that will set the dance floor alight with its positive vibes and singalong vocals from the man himself.

Next is 'Funk Machine', another excursion into the realms of funkadelia in Katorzi's expert style. This cut has a more electronic feel, again utilising his vocal to bring the track to life. As the slinky bassline oscillates below pumping beats, a menagerie of guitar licks and pads keep the track vibrant and emotive. Midway through we even get a rap breakdown before the release of more funked-up energy.

Lastly, 'Groove In My Soul' closes the EP with a flourish of beats, bass and more of his own buoyant vocals. This is bound to have the dance floor in a state of rapture thanks to its energetic flow. Live-sounding drums bring an organic feel to this track, while the repetitive vocal clips create a hypnotic atmosphere, and the guitar-driven bassline adds to its richness.

Entering his third year with PuzzleProjectsMusic and yet again, rising Parisian star FunkeeSounds showcases his immaculate and defined style of Nu-Disco production - with the super fresh ‘ROCKIN’ DA HOUSE’ EP.

For the second time this year, he teams up with Mexican trailblazer Hotmood - last time, Funkeesounds remixed Hotmood on the critically acclaimed ‘Let’s Do It’ EP. This time around, Hotmood handles the remix for Frenchman. 

The original mix works off a rousing, enchanting disco foundation and a four-to-the-floor beat that pumps and bounces with heft. At the low end, it’s a straight-up groove, with electric guitar licks adding flair and dynamism. As usual from Funkeesounds, this is a Smörgåsbord of instrumentation, with multiple layers feeling alive with an organic tone.

For the Hotmood remix, the Mexican wonder opts for a more nuanced approach. His minimal rework retains plenty of the original’s character, with a more subtle low-end and stripped-back percussion. A breakdown midway through adds a burst of energy, while the track continues with its deadly lo-slung groove to the very end.

Welcome to the 33rd release for PuzzleProjectsMusic brought to us by Portuguese Bubba Brothers, Mexican Dan Ros and British label boss Ben Spalding.

Ben Spalding welcomes Portuguese duo Bubba Brothers for a debut release on PuzzleProjectsMusic. The two friends, Eliseu Correia and Justino Santos are steadily building a cult following through their wild parties in the Algarve and through their take on big room-targeted house and techno.

Releases such as ‘No Name Song’ have established the Bubba Brothers sound within the underground scene. Remix duty sees label head Ben Spalding showcase the first of several, minimalistic and naughty bass-heavy Tech House productions created with rising Mexican producer Dan Ros.

‘CARL'S GROOVE’ follows on from the duo’s debut single ‘Carla’s Beat’, released back in 2019. This cut utilises razor-sharp hats and snares alongside a grumbling bassline to devastating effect. Extra layers and elements are gradually added to increase the tension and energy, creating a compelling cut. With an acute understanding of flow and what works on the dance floor, the Bubba Brothers keep the pressure up, using a soulful vocal clip in the track’s second, and most potent, breakdown.

For the remix, Ben and Dan flip the script completely by dismantling the original mix into a taut, narcotic-driven composition.

Entry into the cut is unsettling and designed to be dropped as a massive floor heater at short notice. As the arrangement develops, multiple, typical Spalding-Esque provocation and suspense points take control and unpredictably mutate through the simplistic 4/4 house template to devastating effect. Key shift vocals paired seductive synth and chord stabs complete this unique and potent remix.
