We’d like to end the year with a bang and present to you the first volume of SUPREMATISM, a 10-track collection and our final offering for 2016. Suprematism was originally the name of an art movement created by Kazimir Malevich in 1915, where he and other artists exhibited their work in a similar style, mainly geometric forms and shapes (the main influence for our early release artwork). So when we decided to prepare a compilation of both label regulars and up-and-coming talent, we thought the term fitted perfectly.

One of our current favourite producers @Tale_Cooper (Blue Dye) kick things off with the beautifully produced and uplifting “Booba”, and is quickly followed by the sombre piano tones of “A Day After” by our recent signing @Paul2Paul. Next in line is “Native Flow”, a dark and haunting collab between @AlexeyEmelyanov (Highway Records) and DJ Skif. Now’s the time to bring the sexy funk touch of Athens-based @OlgaKouklaki (Get Physical) with her track “Charmer”, and then head straight to the dance floor with the return of @Giom with his percussion-heavy banger “Some Love”. By now, you’re ready to go on a balearic, dubby trip courtesy of Polish wizard @Pysh (TOS Records) and his track “Da Rosla” (feat. @poludnice-elektronice), a real beauty that works wonder on the floor. Heading for the main room, we welcome back our friend @david-pher (Gruuv) and let things get dark with “Burning Man”, a serious peak time techy monster. Bringing us back to funky town is our current Beatport best-seller, the man @PeteDafeet with the groovy as hell “Piano Looper”. And to finish things off, we calm down with the soothing sounds of our 2 favourite Belgians @DeeligentSoul and their own expertly produced “Rejected Motion” and close things off with the beautiful “Barophobia”, a future end-of-the-night classic produced by the man @Lessovsky (Tenampa Recordings).

Premiere: DRS 'I Will' feat Patife & Vangeliez

Niro launched the PADS label with the ‘Pieces Of You’ EP back in October 2016 and picked up support on the inaugural release from artists such as John Heckle, DJ Spider, Akufen, Frits Wentink and Leftfield, setting the tone of high quality output from the very beginning. Here we see Niro push forward with his Lobster Theremin distributed imprint to deliver the second release in the shape of ‘It Takes Two’. 
 Up first on the package is ‘Died In October’ which leads the way via a frenzied amalgamation of sweeping sample chops and robust lo-fi tinged rhythms alongside shimmering pads and swirling resonant synths. ‘Always Been Free To Fly’ follows and sees Niro opt for a deeper more stipped-back feel with low-slung drums, warm ethereal pad swells and blossoming bell chime and bass melodies which intricately ebb and flow throughout the composition. 
 ‘A Song About Whispers’ opens the B-Side of the record and lays focus on Niro’s more raw rhythmic style with dynamic organic percussion taking the lead alongside acid tinged bass, jazz samples and thunderous subs. ‘Journey To Hyperion’ then closes out the package, a collaboration with fellow Italian Giulio Etiope with a nod to early 2000’s IDM via sweeping pad melodies and wandering arpeggios to create a perfect finishing touch to the release

Released on his own label Bergerac ‘to retain complete creative freedom’, the album is a super personal journey through the many facets of house, disco and club music that Berman has explored in his 22 years as a DJ and 10 years of releases for labels including Philomena, Ramp, Phonica, Wolf Music, City Fly and of course on his own label Bergerac.

Focussing on sample heavy, off kilter yet danceable grooves, it’s an extended trip through the mind of a true auteur who truly has his own unique perspective of what house music should sound like and how it should function in the club.

Slacker aka Sam Black's works have been simmering away online for a while now, creating a fair bit of buzz centred around his knack for choppy breaks, crunchy acid and rough production edges. Amen To The Lonely finally sees the young Bristol producer step out of the simulation and present four raw heaters from the HD. "Amen To The Lonely" is a tender masterpiece of jungle/DnB. Recalling the endless euphoria of early Bukem, Peshay and Good Looking Records, tinted with softened edges of late night melancholy. A heartbreaking anthem and a blistering yet mature production for such burgeoning producer. "See Yourself" goes out on a hyper-crunched up tip. Mulching and scrunching distorted drum patters with blasts of digitally-distorted noise. It collides over a blasted vocal and provides an interesting template for unashamedly digital production tropes combined with a gentle air of analogue warmth. Clattering breaks, scuppered acid and rolling vocal loops underpin the slow-flowing grooves of "Tape Rock". Glistening glass reflections shimmering onto the retinas of a hazed individual making for a proper easy afternoon jam and kaleidoscopic brain filtration experience. Rounding out the EP is "White Monk". Stepped toms, thumpin' kicks and cricket-call acid lines nibbling away at the floating carpet of pads. It's a soft landing and a cool evening breeze rolling through the club doors in the early hours
