Kairos Festival Mix

EXOS is one of the most forward thinking artists to emerge from Iceland’s techno landscape in the last 15 years. His music charms the introspective listener. His innate ability to build deep minimal techno grooves, with dubby atmospheres has become his signature production style. There is an interweaving a balance of nostalgic and current innovative elements to his tracks, with a primal percussion. Exos can go from the most experimental compositions to the more elegant underground dancefloor tunes, alway with a very particular sense of harmony, he excels in bringing a versatility of styles within the techno genres, further demonstrating his “listen” and sensitivity to his rhythmic surroundings.

Phantum Nebulosa is the result of two beings from planet earth, their musical concept is inspired by ‘Intergalactic contact’ they delight a selected crowd who enjoy an exclusive electronic music genre. Cristian Lopez and Santiago Bonilla bet to awake their generation with musical messages, where good vibes are combined with dance and sounds from another world. Experimental music is the concept that characterizes this duo, this is reflected in their productions at low bpm where mixes ideas are defined as: Universe - Nature - Psychedelia and Minimalism.
Cristian is who drives the nebula ship, putting the staging and sharing much of his productions for his own music label C-DERAL Music.
Santiago on the other hand decides to continue producing from the studio under the Aka Nebula Xperience and feeds the Phantum Nebula’s house with Breakbeat and Chillstep tracks that give the experimental and psychedelic touch to this otherworldly duo.

Matteo Antonelli and Lorenzo Maisto are an Italian duo born in Prato where they developed their love for music, beginning as clubbers, DubSkull, started their music project as producers in 2011.
These artists have shared scenary with artists such as Art Department, Monoloc, Alan Fitzpatrick, Bas Mooy, Felix Krocher, The Advent, Paolo Kighine, Fabio Florido, Dustin Zahn, Fabio Neural, Roberto Capuano, Tortsen Kanzler and many more, playing at Mind Club, Cattive Abitudini, Tenax, Essenza, Green Sunset, Frau, Woodstock, Deep Emotion, Elisir Club, Attic Club, and even outside Toscana in clubs like Mantra Club in Genoa.

Dubskull - [ PZR015 ] - Exclusive Mix

DJ and producer Ohm is one of the leading figures in the Icelandic contemporary techno scene. Widely associated with iconic labels such as Thule Records and Force Inc, Ohm stays true to his roots by consistently innovating his interpretation of techno music, intergrating soul and innovation with the scene. 

The Copenhagen-based artist was born and raised in Reykjavik, Iceland, and caught the music bug early on. In 1999 his debut release, a collaboration with the Icelandic techno legend Exos, was released on Force Inc and was critically acclaimed. Since then he has been a constant source of techno anthems – most recently releasing his works on Thule Records and Rawax – and working with veterans such as Octal Industries and his long time collaborator Exos. He has been a regular guest at the legendary techno club Culture Box in Copenhagen – alongside frequently performing in his native country. 

Because of Ohm’s unique style, it’s hard to label his music but you can definitely hear influences from hip hop, drum and bass, dub and of course classic minimal techno. Ohm’s signature sounds are playful tribal grooves, ruff basslines, smoked out sounds flying around, morphing vocal stabs, with drum-and-bass-style-crowd-pleasing-breaks. He tries hard not to be limited to any specific formulas and manages in that way to successfully create his own distinctive sound. Constantly evolving his production skills and questioning the things around him. Ohm seeks to inspire his listeners with sounds both reduced and rough, balanced by emotional and surprising moments throughout his sets. Between pure techno, banging Chicago, tracks old and new, Ohm communicates his message with an apparent effortlessness.

Cycle 016 mixed by Valentino Kanzyani

In the early days of his career Slovenia's Valentino Kanzyani built a name for himself as a three-deck wizard of techno. Here on his Cadenza Cycle podcast he demonstrates that he still has a passion and a flair for mixing with the black gold.

Through the crackle, pop and hiss of his records, we see what he sees, and feel what he feels. Manually weaving together fresh underground house and future leaning techno from Europe and beyond, there's a raw and loopy vibe to his set. The rhythms are sometimes complex with multiple dimensions, at other times, the beats are simple Chicago affairs, with classic house structure and pure analogue goodness.

The subtle changes in mood and tone throughout his Cycle mix remind us of one of those long afterparty sessions where the music just keeps flowing all through the next day, and it pushes you forwards without ever using any obvious breakdowns and energy-sapping pyrotechnics.

You can hear a little bit of Detroit in Kanzyani, and a fair amount of Romanian influence too - Kanzyani says that he is currently making and playing music with a lot of Romania's new breed, and indeed his Next Wave parties in Ibiza are aimed at highlighting that same Eastern Europe talent.

Valentino Kanzyani's Source mix features a blissful selection of electronica, downtempo treats, and broken beats with tracks from Brian Eno, Ricardo Villalobos and Max Loderbauer, Moritz Von Oswald Trio, Massive Attack and Autechre. It gives us some insight into who he is as an artist today.

On 30 April Kanzyani will see the release of his debut EP for Cadenza, titled Love and Gratitude EP1. The EP is the first in a series of releases for Cadenza, which will culminate in the release of his album later this year.

AD - Welcome To My Slowdown 2020 - MOTTO - 21 podcast

When I first met adri_an, they came over to my apartment when I was living in Center City, Philadelphia, PA, along with fellow APA regular and contributor Shanith. It was a particularly fun, trippy evening playing records and getting to know each...I remember "Caribou - Sun" and "Theo Parrish - Falling Up (Carl Craig Remix)" going off that night. Since then, we have attended more events than I can count together in the Philly area, supporting our favorite locals and seeing some international acts.

adri_an is a seal of approval of positive energy. If they're there, you know it's going to be an excellent night, and they're able to get along with a variety of unique people, making their presence ever the more special when they are attending your event. We both are very similar in that we seem to love people, but when the music's right, we prefer to be in our zone and let the DJ take us places.

I was so happy when adri_an agreed to contribute to the APA mix series. Having spun with us back in March before COVID hit, I was hoping to have them regularly open up the night for our monthly party at Silk City in Philadelphia, PA. While we are still waiting for the world to be back open again, please enjoy this tech-y, synthetic, deep groove exclusive mix by adri_an. The mix is a unique journey of minimal and robotic sounds mixed with feel good, hands-in-the-air traditional House vibes...it's a memorable take on the current Philly club experience before COVID hit. Dive in!
