Q Dawg began his music career joining in rap battles with school boys from Lostock. Going by the name ‘Q Dog Millionaire’, he beat many of the local hardcore freestylers from the private school down the road, and was eventually introduced to well respected disk jockey, DJ Lowie. The duo collaborated on Q Dog Millionaire’s debut album ‘Nice to meet Q’ which attracted local attention following it’s mixed review in the Wigan Observer. As Q Dog Millionaire became a household name in the north west, fellow Boltonian Danny Boyle is believed to have suggested that he change his stage name else he would sue him for so much that his great grandchildren would be living in poverty. The next album, ‘Q Know Me’, was released under the artist name ‘Q Dawg Tell ‘Em’ before Soulja Boy threatened to shoot him for stealing his catchphrase. Feminist groups protested against the lyrics “take your time, no need to rush, the things she does would make a stripper blush” in the track ‘Don’t Leave Me’ and, despite it’s poor reviews, the controversy helped it climb to number 1 in the UK and US charts at the disgust of the public. After changing his name for his own safety, the overwhelming hate mail led ‘Q Dawg’ to hang up his mic and go into hiding following the release of his greatest hits album, ‘Thank Q’.
