The 7th edition of the Festival was dedicated to the weather, to changing environments and practices around field recording. For the continuous radio stream Q-O2 members and interns curated playlists, radio emissions focussing on specific projects and artists related to the theme. 

Oscillation ::: The Weather

We once again relayed large chunks of this year's Oscillation Festival live performances occurring in Brussels over the s&S radio stream which took place 1-4 May 2025. In the hours leading up to the Oscillation relay switchover on 2 May, we live-mixed our own 'unofficial' contribution in keeping with this year's theme: 'The Weather', direct from the s&S meteorological monitoring outpost, which we're sharing here for your enjoyment. We were coincidentally experiencing a rather heavy, turbulent storm while we were transmitting from here in Wellington, some of which you hear buried in the mix. Enjoy!

She works with field recordings, voice, found objects, a prepared zither, simple electronics, and movement to seek a dialogue with the environments, spaces, people, organisms, and objects around her. This radio feature is about the american ethnomusicologist & field recordist Laura Boulton.

Using sound as primary creation medium, Yenting investigates the cultural context and texture of sounds. Her works often reflect the relationship between sounds, environment, individual and/or collective memories and emotions. Interweaving field recordings with electronic sounds and objects, Hsu keeps exploring and experimenting documentary and fiction / narrative and imaginary elements of recorded sounds.

Ana María Romano Gómez is a Colombian composer, sound-interdisciplinary artist, teacher and researcher. Within her research interests the soundscape occupies a great relevance, she has participated as organizer, collaborator and exhibitor in multiple projects around the soundscape with different approaches: environment and climate change, ecosystems, socio-political perspectives.
Vanessa Valencia Ramos is a Peruvian producer, sound producer and audiovisual communicator, originally from the Constitutional Province of Callao. Her work focuses on sound narratives, exploring sound art and acoustic ecology through the recording of soundscapes.

After studying history and anthropology, and with a curiosity for all innovative artistic practices, he takes part in community life organizing screenings, concerts, tours and festivals. He has been active as an actor, filmmaker, and field recoridst and currently works as a curator at Cinematek in Brussels.

atmospheric radio essay

Escuchar el Cielo is one of the forms taken by Temporal, a project that investigates atmospheric listening. Started in 2024, Temporal has explored different territories of Latin America (Chile, Colombia and Bolivia) looking for vernacular forms of relationship and perception of the weather. In the search for this knowledge, each Temporal realization summons collective actions and uses diverse formats that to date have generated a laboratory, a performative-operatic action, a sound installation and this radio-essay.

Escuchar el Cielo es una de las formas que ha tomado Temporal, un proyecto que investiga las escuchas de lo atmosférico. Iniciado el 2024, Temporal ha explorando diversos territorios de latinoamérica (Chile, Colombia y Bolivia) buscando formas vernaculares de relación y percepción de lo climático. En la búsqueda de este conocimiento cada realización de Temporal convoca acciones colectivas y utiliza diversos formatos que hasta la fecha han generado un laboratorio, una acción performativa-operática, una instalación sonora y este radio-ensayo.
