Remix of Daft Punk's track, 'Fresh' , from their first album, 'Homework'. This remix has been in production since late 2013 to early 2014, but I just put it aside for other projects. I wanted to spend time on it though, so that I could find the right sound to reassemble artists like Break-bot, Justice, and other Nu-Disco artists. Take It Back is a hopeful break up tune, reminding the listener that sometimes the best way to mend a broken heart is dancing it out. The first in a series of singles Figgy recorded with Brooklyn vocalist Angelica Bess (Body Language), Take It Back marks a turning point for the producer, moving heavier into songwriting and recording of live instruments. Live bass, warm pads and catchy guitar riffs lay down the bed for Angelica’s soulful vocals to pull right on the heart strings. While the subject of heartbreak may be a familiar trope, it’s the honesty and simplicity that make the tune stand out. The slight influence of 80’s R&B and boogie ads a feeling of nostalgia, but with enough modern elements to keep you in the present. With super catchy vocals, don’t be surprised when you find yourself singing along after just a few listens.
