In the ‘00s there were three big Conspiracy theory movies on the internet: the 9/11 conspiracy theory film Loose Change, the multi-conspiracy film Zeitgeist, and the illuminati and conspirituality film Esoteric Agenda. Esoteric Agenda is perhaps less famous than the other two, but it was just as impactful for the first generation of internet users who watched videos online. 

On this episode, we talk about the movie and its creator Ben Stewart. Stewart was the singer/songwriter for an up-and-coming but unsigned band called Hierosonic. While Stewart initially made conspiracy videos to discuss topics in his songs, he soon discovered his YouTube clips were making a bigger impact than his music did. That set him on a path towards becoming a professional conspiracist that stretches to today. He now makes series for the conspirituality streaming network Gaia TV and right wing YouTuber Tim Pool. To help us learn more about Ben Stewart’s career arc Travis spoke to one time Hierosonic roadie Steven Wynne.

There’s a lot going on in Arizona. Elections directors are quitting due to harassment. A lawmaker named a committee after a QAnon slogan. They’ve tried to pass legislation based on the terrible Dinesh D’Souza documentary 2000 Mules. The conspiracy theories have gotten so crazy that a legislator named Liz Harris was actually expelled for helping promote a wild conspiracy theory involving the Arizona governor, a Mexican Cartel, and the Mormon Church. 

And of course Arizona is the home of Kari Lake, the former tv news reporter tuned Gubernatorial candidate. She has been busy trying unsuccessfully to overturn the election she lost, writing a book that includes a deranged kidnapping dream sequence, and inadvertently posting evidence of possible crimes her team may be involved in.

Time Travel.  We’ve all fantasized about what could be possible if we possessed the ability to travel backwards or forwards through time; perhaps to see your favorite band in some small smokey venue before they were famous, or to prevent a horrible tragedy from taking place.  But what if you stumbled upon time travel completely by accident?  Where would you go?  What would you do?  This week, Jake, Brad, and Julian dive into the wondrous case of Mike “Mad Man” Marcum, a Coast to Coast AM caller who claimed to have built a Time Machine on his back porch in 1995.  We’ll follow Mike from his humble beginnings working in a cardboard box factory all the way through his rise to fame as one of Art Bell’s most memorable callers.  And of course, try to answer the most pertinent question of all: Did the madman actually do it?

The Spectral Voyager Episode 3:  Mike “Mad Man” Marcum (Sample)

QAnon figures have completely taken over the conservative activist organization America’s Future, Inc. Under the guidance of chairman of the Board Michael Flynn, they’re hosting events to radicalize Florida residents with a cartoonish conception of human trafficking.

We explore how America’s Future, Inc. got its start as an anti-New Deal publication in the late 30s founded by publishing tycoon Frank Gannett. We also break down their recent event in Sarasota, Florida, where attendees were treated to wild horror stories of child abuse, complete with burlap bags, chains, and adrenochrome harvesting. Will this lead to real estate agents performing raids on houses they think are trafficking hubs? I guess we’ll find out.
