It's been a while since I posted my latest track, which in fact dated back to 20 years ago. I've been struggling with several issues, and sadly I haven't had many chances to record any new stuff, these latest months or years. This time I won't say things are going to get better in future, because I'm not so sure they will; still I really hope so.
This piece is about spiritual dawning.

Each winter here in the UK, small birds enact one of natures great spectacles. Each evening flocks ranging from a few hundred to over 100,000 individual Starlings form up into a single flowing entity swirling above their communal roosting sites. 
Why they do this is not fully understood, with theories ranging from a strategy to distract predators, to a grand display designed to draw more birds to the flock for the purpose of maximising the body heat being generated by the mass of the flock in the roost. 
Whatever the purpose of this behaviour it creates a unique and magical aerial display of great beauty.

The track began with the repeating mallet sequence, then the strings and lastly the piano. I'm finding myself increasingly drawn to improvising around basic chord progressions at the moment and this is another product of this approach. I'm  resisting the temptation to quantize or mess around with the midi in post, so it's all as played and of the moment.

It begins as Chapter 2 ended, with the the horn of Gildor fading out as the Elven leader sadly fails in his attempt to save Raewyn from capture. She laments the ill-fated rescue attempt, but then, in the distance, she hears familiar sounds - could Gildor's Ancient Message Ritual herald her freedom?

I'll admit we've broke from all the bending.
Let's take a step back and do some comprehending
of ourselves and find out all the reasons
for the constant changing of the seasons.
Heal our wounds, prevent further bleedin'.
Learn from our mistakes, stop history repeatin'.

and although I don't wanna see you leavin',
it's necessary in order so that we can
be our best selves one another is seein'.
And maybe then, if our stars realign,
we could rebuild from scratch and just take all the time
in the world to establish true love that's divine
and be wealthy and healthy as ourselves. Redefine.

Lately, been feeling isolated.
Outside, was masking like I've made it.
Inside, was hurting and deflated,
hating myself for the mess that I've created.
To be fair, it's much more complicated.
Fuckedupness cannot be overstated.
Got laid off, became dark and jaded,
anxious, depressed, angry and frustrated.
All contributing to my mentality;
bipolar, borderline personality.
Which often tends to distort my reality,
veiling myself from what is actuality.
But this time I need to be stable.
Prove to everyone that I'm able
so I can take a seat back at my table
and generate a happy ending to this fable.
