This second instalment of Qindek is a abstract piece of musical and video art, that exists quit a while, but it didn't felt right to publish, until this point. 'The Next best Thing' starts of a a little bit frantic and oppurtunistic. But as layer after layer unfolds, the essence becomes clear. And all of the sudden, your world_ has changed. We're in this together now. This piece could end up late in your friday night houseparty playlist!

Thijs his video just magically follows the same path. While it could feel a bit off at first, the visuals will take an unexpected turn. Colors, form and pace change, and your world changes with it.

The Next Best Thing [vaas.technovision]

You've got to recognize the shoulders that your are standing upon. @AgoriaMusic did so much for me with his 'La Onzieme March" back in 2002. This track is my ode to 20 years of electronic music, And an ode to 'La Onzieme March'.  This third instalment of Qindek is created soley on his modular system, brushed and mastered on Ableton. 

Thijs Brouwers created an video that draws back on the magic of an old fashioned Caleidoscope, inspirated by his direct surroundings, trying to capture daily occuring events and create something special with that.

These colours have been chosen for this video, because of the time in which it has been created. The first wave of the global pandamic has set foot in Europe and people felt unsafe by everything that surrounded them. Air, People and the comfort of others around us. 

'Sphere' is a representation of that vibe that was felt by the artist at that time.

Eliane Radique is a french composer, born is Nice in 1932. She has a extended library with experimental electronic music. In the 50's, her fascination for modular electronic music came to life and she dedicated her time and energy into modular and taperecorders. Her work can't be labeled other than experimental. Minimal variations, extreme timedilations, and tonal noises are signatural for her werk since putting out work since the 70's. her latest work dates to 2017. 

This track is a hommage to her work. 

I've tried to be as minimal in the groove and the variation and the voice in this track is hers, commenting on her creative proces during the recording of a portrait.

The video, created by Thijs Brouwers, also portraits layers of movement with human & shaped elements. Very colourful, playful and abstract.

The mighty Qindek returns to Wolfskuil for his sophomore hypnotic workout. On this 3 track EP he showcases his unique talent for melodic sounding atonal sequencing (if that makes any sense) and stripped down grooves. In titletrack Modu he stretches his signature sound to almost epic proportions. Over the span of 12 minutes he stretches and bends a seemingly simple idea like rubber without losing a second’s tension. Both Due and Krux are pieces of sophisticated dancefloor DJ tools dripping with atmosphere and depth. Two perfect secret peaktime weapons for those who know.

Statuesk EP (Qindek's Toolshed) [supported by Ame, Albert van Abbe]

This EP is made right after the Paris & Beiroet bombings. According to the Western leaders, we now are officially at war with IS. I think that's justified. I just hope whenever this is over, all means to gather all that information and metadata are being canceled and terminated. 
My thoughts are with all who lost loved ones, family and/or friends and i dedicate this music to them.

The esoteric art of opening a night. I love to create a foundation for the night, by playing deep, esoteruc cutz, filled with liquid rhythms and organic, heady spaces in the upper regions. This set is recorded in Club Closure, Amsterdam on the 12th of december 2015, during Tommy Four Seven's 47 label night.

The sixth release of Form and Function, is the second one of the Function series. This time it’s Qindek who provides his debut EP on the label. “Reach For The Cosmica” is a lovely journey through Qindek’s world. It’s the perfect combination of both abstract and functional. The weird meets the wonderful. The package is topped of by Setaoc Mass who does an incredible job remixing Takes A pad.

On the A-side, the first track is “Climate Shift”. A track that tells a story through dubby elements and chords, backed by a powerful and thumping low end. A movement of continuous energy and subtle but noticeable changes which have an impact on the track as a whole can be seen as the precursor for cosmic endeavors.

Next up is “Reach For The Cosmica”, the second track of this release. It’s an epitome of the soundtrack of traveling through space. The minimalist build up tells us about how the journey just started outside of the atmosphere, transitioning into more depth that has been inaugurated by a sound that is the sonic equal of the rocket engine. As the beginning journey develops, there are few sudden bursts of power, together with the presence of the perpetual powers that cause the final move to outer space.

The arrival in outer space brings us to the 3rd part of the release and the first track of the B-side. Setaoc Mass gives the EP it’s the concluding boost that gives us that last drop of power before the arrival. Elements of the original are still to be found, whilst given a little twist and a lot more of dancefloor energy. All while keeping the pace up to enter the final chapter of the journey.

“Take A Pad” exactly asks us what we need to do. Finding the ultimate balance between speed while preserving the right amount of power, is how sub-bass is working in harmony with the percussive elements.

Space is calling upon us with delicate voices. A beautiful ending of a classy and well crafted EP by Qindek.
