B-More Club Music and the Club Breaks of the mid to late 2000s were hugely formative and inspiring styles of music for me, serving as my entry point into club music beyond the mainstream. Til today, few other genres manage to generate such raw and uncompromised energy with such simple means while maintaining a unique character through creative sample flipping. My hat’s off to Pioneers like Scottie B, Rod Lee, DJ Technics, DJ Tameil and others who laid the foundation for this sound, allowing future generations of DJs to follow in their footsteps and continue evolving a style that remains niche yet deeply influential. Definitely need to name the whole Hollertronix universe at this point, which always embodied one of the wildest takes of „anything goes“ to me.
For this very mix I dug through my record collection and freestyled a little impromptu mix for those who appreciate this sound as well, it‘s a rough and gritty one take, a memory of the influences that have shaped me deeply. If it resonates with you as well, enjoy it and let it make you feel good. 😘
