Tilt Shift sits firmly left of center, a difficult-to-label square peg that unintentionally fails to fit a pigeonhole. Borrowing from the photography term, Tilt Shift refers to two different types of movement, a selective focus with a large depth of field used to control perception. As we have come to think of it, it’s where the lines blur

For the 62nd interpretation of Far Blue, we have the talented duo Javier Salazar who have put together something special. It's one of the more experimental perceptions of the concept, weaving together downtempo, ambient and abstract sounds. Besides running the inspiring Klape Nunsen label, they are amazing selectors when it comes to the deeper and dubby sounds. This mix showcases how subtly they create an atmosphere that makes you float.

"Settled in the studio, we started playing records we felt like sharing. Each of us behind a turntable, doodling without anything specific in mind, occasionally at the same time letting sounds overlap. One of us pressed the record button, and we simply let it unfold, free of knowing where it would lead. We rarely felt so immersed in a recording, selecting each track in the moment. Depth, imperfections and unexpected blends."

When Stephen Hitchell released The Seduction of Silence in 2009 under his Intrusion alias, the double-CD immediately established itself as a landmark in the dub techno continuum. Across deep, glacial chords, cavernous bass and hypnotic atmospheres, Hitchell expanded the Berlin/Detroit lineage into something spiritual and introspective – a meditative art form rooted in emotion, texture and stillness rather than club-function alone.

Sixteen years on, The Seduction of Silence returns in its most definitive form, with both Part 1 and Part 2 now finally available on vinyl for the first time. Remastered and cut by Stefan Betke (POLE), the records unlock new depth and dimensionality, offering a fully immersive experience for both longstanding admirers and new listeners.

Part 1 traces the genesis of Intrusion, sparked by Hitchell’s rediscovery of a Sequential Circuits Prophet 2000 sampler containing fragments of his ’90s experiments. Revived during a period of transition – long hours in record distribution, a move to Chicago’s lakeside, impending fatherhood – those sounds became the foundation for weighty yet introspective dub, heard vividly in Montego Bay and Intrusion Dub.

Part 2 carries a more expansive, improvisational feel, influenced by the late Phillip C. Hertz, Hitchell’s colleague at Crosstalk Distribution. Recorded through live jams and experimental sessions, this chapter drifts into deeper ambient-dub territory, paying tribute to collaboration, community and the fluidity of sound.

Together, both parts form a deeply personal document of life, art and devotion to sound. Alongside this feature, Hitchell shares a live recording from his New York debut at Public Records in July 2025, hosted by Zen/Echo – an intimate Intrusion performance in full analog drift.

Boris Barksdale es un dj & productor de Grecia, un artista verdaderamente dedicado a la original cultura y sonido del techno underground, principalmente influenciado por electro,synth wave,industrial, ritmos rotos, sintetizadores de fm y distorsionados y absurdo sonidos cinematicos.

Después de pasar muchos años en el Reino Unido y en Serbia, se involucró en la recopilación de registros, la creación de pistas, la exploración de sonidos de diversas fuentes y grabaciones de campo, y se vinculó fuertemente con una visión y un carácter únicos con respecto a la expresión verdadera a través de la música en un espectro mayor.

Boris Barksdale is a dj & producer from Greece,an artist truly devoted to the original underground techno sound and culture,mostly influenced by early electro,synth wave,industrial,broken rhythms,fm synths and cinematic lo-fi distorted and absurd soundscapes.

After spending many years in the Uk and Serbia he got involved with collecting records, making tracks, exploring sounds from various sources and field recordings, strongly bonded with a unique vision and character regarding true expression through music in a greater spectrum.
