“Rapido…Rapido…Rapido…”. These were the words that echoed throughout the aluminum-clad walls of a vast underground complex populated almost entirely by beings made of circuitry and wires that spoke not in response to the utterances of the installation’s sole human inhabitant. Instead, the synthetic lifeforms went about their tasks unperturbed by the odd sounds that emanated from within the deepest portions of the laboratory wherein lurked a singular organic mind which lead the project with a fervor that could only be born from the human psyche.

“There simply must be a way to break through the barrier,” came the next set of words from within, this time contained within a full sentence. The robots noticed not, continuing about their tasks as the great particle accelerator within began to thrum with a cold electric life all of its own. Slowly, the accelerator began to draw power not only from the facility’s reserves but from the very kinetic energy of the planet’s rotation itself, a colossal source of energy yet untapped in this way for fear of the unforeseen consequences that might lay beyond its use. The machine glowed with a blue heat for a moment under the influx of all of this power, which amassed itself behind a single particle locked in stasis at absolute zero within the ammunition chamber.

“RAPIDO!” came one final shout alongside the clanging of a metallic switch being thrown with gusto as the hypothermic lock on that singular particle was dispelled. In an instant, the energy buildup behind that particle was released, sending the minuscule speck of matter rocketing through the universe at faster than light speeds that set it tearing through the fabric of space-time as it traveled.

Making only a minute splash, a pair of sandaled feet landed in the murky waters of the city’s sewer system. Their owner winced slightly as his first step squelched upon the sodden and soggy soil that coated the ground within these grand pipes, but redoubled his focus with the knowledge that their labyrinthine network would provide him with a means to sneak into the castle unseen, undetected, and with minimal resistance. Assured in this knowledge, he strode forwards with confidence, undeterred by the murky and fetid environment in which he now traveled.

After some time in the sewers, the ronin became aware that he was being watched. From the most shadowed corners of the system's most cavernous corridors, he began to catch glimpses of sickly yellow eyes that followed him not with the vigilance of man but with the ravenous hunger of a beast. As he quickened his pace, he felt only more and more of these eyes upon him and began to rush through the passages in search of a glimmer of light. Finding it deep beneath the grated cover of a street-level vent, he turned to face his would-be assailants and found them on all sides; feral rats of a gargantuan size that dripped noxious poisons from the rotted enamel of their exposed teeth. As he assumed a defensive posture, the ronin grinned beneath the wide brim of his armored hat. It had been some time since he had been able to test his skills against an enemy this numerous, and his blade hungered to cleave through the soft hides of these rodents of unusual size. Thus it was that as the horde came upon him, his battle cry echoed upwards to the street above with glee, alongside the frenzied screeching of the swarm that fell like grass before his honed blade. Even within this melee, however, the ronin could not shake the feeling that he was being watched again, now by more human eyes. As the penultimate rat fell before his blade, a thunderous explosion reverberated throughout the tunnel, silencing the chamber he stood within. As his gaze traveled upwards, it followed a thin trail of smoke from the silver barrel of a six-shooter upwards to the brims of two hats, wide like his own but made of leather rather than straw. From beneath one came a single gruff greeting, breaking the silence wrought by the gun that had emerged from the darkness.

SCREAMARTS returns to EATBRAIN with his latest EP, FERAL. Unified by the untamed roars of their driving basslines, the four tracks within see SCREAMARTS tap into the most primal portions of his sound both solo and in collaboration with fellow EATBRAIN artists BURR OAK for his most raw and unrestrained release yet.

The puppeteer's workshop contained a mass of wooden limbs, woolen clothes, and linen masks that protruded oddly and gazed outwards from the shelves, greeting any visitor with a jarring sight upon their arrival. Upon closer inspection, their forms bore remarkably accurate representations of human appearance, a testament to the masterful craftsmanship of an artist who had devoted years of careful study to his craft. Indeed, the puppeteer’s creations entertained courts the continent over with their lifelike forms and were an item of distinct prestige within the collections of the nobility who owned them. Many clamored to purchase one of these most valuable marionettes, but the puppeteer was exceedingly choosy in the selection of his clientele. His storefront strangely advertised no price for his works, and only a select few were even allowed entry to his workshop to begin with. Rumors abounded of the rare goods that were required to purchase one of his creations - the hides of exotic beasts, dazzling gemstones, or spices from distant lands were all said to garner favor with the master artisan, and yet even those who showed up at his door with these items were often turned away. The truth of the matter was known only by the master himself, as was the secret to the expertise in his craft. 

Indeed, whilst he was fond of all things rare and beautiful, there was one thing that he valued more than all others, one thing that informed the basis of all of his works. A human soul, separated from it’s physical form at the TERMINAL STAGE of it’s death, would naturally seek a nearby host to possess, and with dark magics and unerring skill the master would trap these mournful souls within his marionettes, granting them an appearance of unparalleled vivacity. He, of course, would perform the separation himself, and found a ready stock of ingredients in the enemies, dissidents, and prisoners that filled the jails of his noble clients. Thus was his trade, puppeteer-executioner, and thus was the price for his work payable only in souls.

TNTKLZ make their EATBRAIN debut with TERMINAL STAGE, presenting a superb sonic show for the EATBRAIN horde alongside likeminded Neurofunk artisans Gancher & Ruin and Profuze across the EP’s four tracks.
