Augustina Moore (b. 1999 Vashon Island) is a trans songwriter & musician, DJ, & sound designer living and working in Seattle, Washington. As a selector and producer, August’s offerings blur reconstructed clubland frenetics into the hyper-familiarity of dancefloor heritage groove.

For this episode, she brings us a mix titled “Dawn of a New Day”. In her own words:

For this mix I wanted to embody and explore the concept of the “day-night cycle”, and the way video game music helps define and set atmosphere in relation to time of day. The mix is split into three distinct sections (morning, day, and night) and follows a loose imagined narrative of a day in the life of a game character! I like to use music in a very functional way to soundtrack my day and activities (I have specific music / playlists for things like studying, cooking, going for a walk, taking a shower), and was imagining this character / the listener doing the same with this mix: brushing their teeth and making breakfast to the first section, running errands and taking the train to the second, and winding down while reading a book to the final section. I pulled VGM from some of my all-time favorite games & composers, games that I've been meaning to play forever, and also some weird obscure OSTs my friends have put me onto (shoutout Cori, Mason & Natasha !!!). Secret Level w/ August V.M. - Mar 14th 2024

I had the pleasure of playing a 4/20 house party on the angel date of 4/20/2024. Naturally, my game plan was to work in as many weed tracks as possible, and that means footwork. This mix is a re-recording of that set with a few changes here and there. 

As a teenager, I actually once burned a CD titled “420 mixtape” that was just “All I Do Is” (Smoke Trees) by DJ Manny repeated for the entire runtime of the disc. This was intended as a troll move but there was definitely more than one occasion when we put it on in my friend’s car and intentionally sat there and listened to the track on repeat. Vibes. RIP Rashad.
