This track is comprised of a recording of jet noise on a flight to the Netherlands from LA. The drone gives way to the sound of a distant melody. And then returns to a drone. 

The drone track was recorded on an iPhone and arranged and mixed in Cubasis on an iPad. The main instrument is a patch in Magellan with some processing added and then run through some big reverb.

This track was originally done for One Track Mine (https://www.youtube.com/user/onetrackmine), a music and video gathering that myself and a few friends do quarterly. We post music and accompanying videos on YouTube. 

This is a "remix" created for the Disquiet Junto Project 0240: Emerging from a Drone and is my first time posting to this group.



Ascent - disquiet0240

This track is a submission in the Disquiet Junto Project 0241. I chose a recognizable track (Diana Ross's "Upside Down") as the foreground upon which to put the background. Which in this case is a drum track made on a BeatStep Pro with the song's audio feed going through the inputs of an old Electribe ER-1.

Downside Up - disquiet0241

For this weeks Junto I have two techniques I wanted to share. They are both in the same song and were part of a video project for One Track Mine. I used Brian Eno's Apollo album as my source. The video was inspired by the Rosetta project a few years back, the orbit and landing on a moving comet. I took a clip of the first few seconds of each track on the album and loaded them onto separate tracks in Cubasis. Then played them all at once so they meshed into a single mass of sound. Then that audio was imported into Sector, a circular randomizer/sequencer app, which I used to build into a simple sequence that was broken apart by randomized clips of the audio from the album, which are never the same clips during each playback. So essentially I wanted to share the technique of track stacking and randomized slicing of audio in a sequence. Nothing all that special or ground breaking but it was fun to do. Man or machine, who is the replicant... Done entirely on iPad using Auxy, iDS-10, Filtatron and Cubasis. Part soundtrack, part homage to a suitably contemporary film.

Hazard - disquiet0243

I trimmed the source audio down to the first 20 seconds of each. Next I loaded each 20 second track into the AUM mixer on 3 separate channels. Since they were all noise tracks I decided to remix noise with noise so I ran the audio out into my old Monotron Delay. So essentially the track was comprised of an improvised mix of the three tracks plus the Monotron unit and a little bit of reverb from my analog mixer.

Pale Eclipse - disquiet0244

Hello. Here's my 2-4-6 track. In keeping with the numerical theme I decided to base my track on three chord degrees in D major. So that would be E minor, G major and B minor. The track begins with a simple 2 note repetition from iPolysix, then progresses to the quadruple phase with a bass line using an Arturia Microbrute monsynth and then lastly a sequence in B minor played on a modular synth that is being modulated by the Microbrute. The entire thing has a bed of Electribe drums. The track was recorded in one take to keep things simple.

Pinion - disquiet0246

This week's piece for the Galactic Tick Junto was done using Moog Filtatron and Korg Electribe ER-1. I like to think of this sound piece as my interpretation of the outer fringes of space, where the movement of the Galactic Tick is sensed through audible vibrations.
