I don't really know what all I need to say about this set, haha. Thank you so much to all of the friends that came by during the stream and showed me love. This set was also a fun one to play, but putting it together didn't come to me really naturally. It didn't feel that great when I was making track selections, but prepping them started to create an overall sound that I was really happy with.

I said this during the stream, but I think the next one (or perhaps the one afterward) will have a bit of a concept that I'm going to need to practice and work on learning before I can do it the way I want. OR maybe the next stream will be a practice stream and I'll use the recording to review my issues with it? lol.

March 2021 - Crunchy Water aka Cukes

Hey, y'all :) This was a bit of an impromptu stream that I used as motivation to practice using my Midi Fighter Twister. It was really interesting to try to DJ with it and also try to get accustomed to using Djay Pro as well. It did take me a bit of time to get comfortable using it, but I felt it got better as time progressed, lol.

Anyways, not sure how often I'll use this for streams, but as always, some of these songs are about you.

April 2021 Monthly Music Stream - Experimenting With New Stuff Edition

After a bit of a hiatus from this format of DJ set/livestream, I brought it back! Big shout out to my friends that came by the stream to chat and catch up with me.

I didn't have a particular theme for this one, but I'd say my feels have been a bit up and down lately, so you can detect that in my song selection. I had a really good time playing these songs out and getting some endorphin release from it.

So. Lots of words incoming.

This is the first in a series of mixes I'm hoping to make this year, focusing on a specific topic for each mix. This first one is specifically about the Maison Kitsuné record label, which I've loved for quite some time. It's exposed me to some really amazingly wonderful music that I've been infatuated with for years at this point. The compilations are fun and brilliant and unique and varied. The Japanese x French aesthetic carried through their releases and all of the mixes that they've put out.

Anyways, I initially set out to just play my favorites, but uh... that would've been literally every song, haha. I finally forced myself to arbitrarily pick about 2 hours worth of stuff and just go.

Hey, y'all!

Got a mic audio recording from my opening set for Dabin's The Wild Youth Tour at RBC in Dallas last night and it sounded pretty good. I'm fully embracing this concept/feeling/thought process/genre/whatever I'm in at the moment and really loving it. There's just a certain texture in it that I'm so fond of lately and it's inspiring me quite a bit. I did fully break from the aesthetic for 2 songs, but I made them work and the crowd seemed to enjoy it which made me happy since I love both songs.

I didn't have any particular expectations for this show, but I'm really happy with how it turned out and the crowd was pretty receptive. Big shout out to the awesome dancing circles in the crowd that I saw. Y'all were awesome :D

So... I haven't tried to recreate one of my gig sets before. I've normally recorded those sets and left them as they are or tried to ignore them because I hated them, but not this one. The weather and energy and my feelings just felt perfect. The interaction I had with everyone made me so happy and I definitely played some specific songs for specific people. It's not exactly the same as the set I played that Friday, but all of the songs are there and the same vibes are there, too.

I'm not quite sure when I'm playing again, but whenever that happens, I know I want to come close to this again. Thanks for coming along with the ride.

Man. So, I did not record the actual live set I played for Toki's show because I just wasn't happy with it. I was told it sounded much better than I thought, and that my track selection was pretty good for the night/set.

So, this is what that is. Just a home studio mix of the songs I played last night, in a format I'm a lot more content with. Playing that show was pretty amazing and getting to see DJing in a more hip-hop influenced environment was really educational.

First of all, thank you to Michael and Andy and the Demi Digital Renegades crew for having me on to play for their Birthday Bash celebrating all of our birthdays that are being affected while we're sheltering at home.

I had a specific feeling or emotional thought for this set, as I usually do, but I also wanted to ramp things up and play something that was very specifically mine. I got a lot of wonderful feedback and I was so happy about how everything turned out.

Yay, another monthly mix down! Thank you so much if you came by and chatted with me during the stream. It was really lovely to talk to everyone and play y'all some music. (Shout out to @shreemix for the mix title, hahah)

On that note, these song selections kinda came from a lower moment in my feelings, which really came to a head during the last week or so. I've learned to accept those feelings as just part of being human and just embrace them for what they are. Thankfully, I'm doing better, but feelings aren't really an On/Off switch, so they linger a bit.

Born and raised in Dallas, quahog_convo's musical inspirations come from an extensive range of influences, such as his love for anime and video games as well as watching sports and being a silly Internet forum dweller. "I've always loved hearing how different sounds have different textures, when they're presented in different ways," he says. "Crafting a set to achieve that texture and overall feeling I want is something I love to keep chasing and sharing with my friends." His love of comedy also informs his DJ sets too, since he loves playing random songs to make his listeners laugh and he also enjoys a bit of spontaneity in changing his sets on the fly.
