Today’s premiere is an exclusive preview from the self-titled debut LP of Turkish psych rockers MLDVA & Çınar Timur. 

MLDVA & Çınar Timur's debut LP is an electrifying collection of expertly recorded tracks that radiate energy, deep grooves, and hard-hitting breakbeats—everything you would expect from a classic Turkish sound, conjuring comparisons to Barış Manço, or more recent successors to the “Anadolu Psych” sound, such as Altın Gün or Derya Yıldırım & Grup Şimşek.

MLDVA originated in Krakow, Poland in 2013 as a DJ and production outfit. Their deep appreciation for Greek and Turkish folk and psych-rock music propelled them to transform into a full-fledged band, incorporating instruments like the saz, which is a hallmark of the Turkish sound. In 2015, they welcomed the talented Turkish instrumentalist Çınar Timur, completing the lineup for their debut album.

"Adımız Miskindir Bizim" starts with an enticing fusion of hip hop and funk, until the chord changes ground the song firmly in its Turkish roots. Çınar's microtonal electric guitar introduces recurring motifs that give the song a distinct character. The track also features captivating solo Rhodes action, creating a sense of urgency. The lyrics, originally written by Yunus Emre, criticize destructive values like holding grudges, which hinder love, friendship, and peace among people.

Out 4th September on Ransom Note Records, "Pizza Conspiracy" is the second album from Hologram Teen aka Morgane Lhote. Following stints in outfits like The Projects and Garden, Morgane’s first incarnation as a solo artist began five years ago, with Hologram Teen’s superb debut album Between the Funk and the Fear emerging in 2018. Prior to that, she played keyboards in Stereolab during their 1995-2001 imperial phase, with a key role in seminal albums such as Emperor Tomato Ketchup and Dots and Loops. Oh, and a bit of trivia - keen-eyed hip-hop fans might be able to spot Morgane on the cover of Common’s "Electric Circus"...

Veteran Eskimo DJ/producer George Bakalakos AKA NTEIBINT returns to the label this summer with the seductively sun-kissed soul of 'Love Is Everywhere’ featuring the lovelorn vocals of fellow Athenian Matina Sous Peau.

"'Love Is Everywhere' is about that feeling when you're just falling in love with someone,” reveals Matina. “Whether you’re sharing a late night road trip, just wandering the city with them or just staring out the window and the feeling is just all encompassing.”

Complementing that mood NTEIBINT has conjured up the kind of hazy, uplifting jam whose distinctive Rhodes keys and metronomic percussion instantly applies your favourite vintage Instagram filter over reality.

"It's got those smooth, late 70s sounds there, all those warm, nostalgic tones from the Rhodes,” explains George. "But then it’s given a twist with some classic house synth sounds in there to raise the track up and match Matina’s energy."

The second track that George and Matina have worked on together 'Love Is Everywhere’ follows on from the classic disco of 'Back to the Roots of Love', one of the standout moments from Eskimo's recent compilation, 'The White Collection’.
