Earlier this year, we had the pleasure of attending the fourth edition of Mostra, one of the most beautiful, safe, and welcoming gatherings we've ever experienced. It was an intimate, four-day festival in the city of Barcelona dedicated to exploring experimental electronic music and the avant-garde — expertly curated and surrounded by a beautiful community of like-minded souls who treated us like family.

On the second day of the festival at Fabra i Coats — inside one of the most respectful and attentive listening rooms, with an audience whose silence drew you even deeper into the sound — Detroit legend and Mostra resident Patrick Russell took his place in the booth, seated this year, and delivered a deeply moving and powerful sonic trip — one we’re honored to share with you today.

A big thank you to Patrick and Mostra for giving us the opportunity to share one of our favourite performances of the festival.

Leafar Legov is an enigmatic yet pivotal figure within the Giegling collective. A long-time collaborator with Konstantin, he co-founded Kettenkarussell, a live act and production duo known for their melancholic and atmospheric sound, embodying Giegling's signature introspective aesthetic.

Madrid-based artist Luska delivers a powerful set brimming with raw emotion and pure energy.

1. How and where was the mix recorded?

This mix was recorded at my friends’ studio while chilling and having some drinks — proper Technics setup and a great mixer.

2. Can you tell us about the idea behind the mix?

It shows a little taste of my sensitive side, and it’s about sharing a more introspective and heartfelt energy in this mix.

3. What are your main influences regarding electronic music and DJing in general?

Honestly, the people who have influenced me the most have been my friends — they have really good taste. But I could mention names like Phill Merrall, Kelly Moran, Fasme, Amon Tobin, Binary Digit... They've all helped me get a deeper feel for electronic music from the inside.

4. Tell us a bit more about the scene in Madrid (Spain) and your beginnings in this world. How are things developing there?

I’ve been part of the scene for about three or four years now, and during that time, the amount of quality and exciting projects in my city has grown massively. It’s impossible not to feel proud, grateful, and lucky to be part of it. And on a personal note, coming from a very different musical background, I felt welcomed with open arms from the very beginning.  

5. What are your next steps? Any upcoming projects or ideas?

I’ve really fallen in love with music production, and I’d like to start sharing my tracks soon so that whoever connects with them can enjoy them. I also have some really exciting gigs coming up this season — with projects and values that align closely with mine. Right now, I just want to enjoy the ride and make the most of these experiences.

Soul Circuit Therapy
