Properties:
Amygdalin is a natural substance found in apricot seeds, bitter almonds, and other fruits and nuts. It is well-known for its anti-cancer properties and has a long and controversial history, despite its use against cancer for more than 100 years.

Laetrile, a purified and patented form of amygdalin, has been used in alternative cancer therapy since the 1960s.

Beginning in the late 1970s, a series of clinical studies of Laetrile (amygdalin) supported by the National Cancer Institute found that Laetrile (amygdalin) was ineffective against cancer and some study participants developed cyanide toxicity.

Laetrile has not been approved by the FDA as a drug. The FDA has banned the interstate commerce of Laetrile although Laetrile has been legalized by several states for use within state borders.

Recently there has been a resurgence of research and public interest in amygdalin's anti-cancer properties due to newer studies discovering previously unknown mechanisms, and anecdotal evidence of its efficacy against cancer.
