Mystic Sounds presents MIKE AKIDA in this episode. Mike Akida is from the island of Crete in Greece. He started DJing in 1990, playing alternative and rock music, and a few years later he switched to electronica. Over the years Mike has developed his own chill out sound playing at parties and festivals in Europe, Asia and Africa. Since 1994 Mike has been organizing festivals and concerts in Europe. One of his most iconic projects that influenced the development of world psychedelic culture is the Samothraki Festival on the island of the same name in Greece. Many well-known and now popular projects performed there for the first time with live programs. Mike has been organizing the Free Earth Festival since 2013 and is currently preparing the festival's spectacular comeback in 2023 in one of the most stunning locations in Greece.

Both the artist and the neurotic are really sensitive. They both are overwhelmed by the world. The fundamental difference is that the neurotic is precisely the one who cannot create. He cannot marshal a response. But the artist takes that in and reworks it into an active work project. So there is a feedback loop in the circularity. The artist to marshal a response. There's a response that says, I am here, I felt this, and this matters. And it is in the ability to respond that you experience a extra system that frees you from your demons. The neurotic cannot do that, and so he chokes on his introversions. Ernest Becker really understood the human condition
