Quantum Axe l: Cool Synth KORG

New life

Some dudes were supposed to come with me to Pori Jazz festival, but they bailed and went to Pärnu, Estonia instead. This song describes my disappointment and frustration. It's the only drum'n'bass song I've done (so far).  There are hints of "Sunshine of Your Love" to be heard. (2016)

Pärnu Jazz

This one is a blur, but I remember coming up with the main riff and liking it a lot. The middle section solo was my attempt to make a jazz fusion thing with Allan Holdsworth in mind of course. Before that is a theme similar to Castlevania 2, an old Game Boy game. You can hear it just before you fight Dracula.

Hmm. Now that I think about it, some of the drum parts eventually made their way to "London". (2015)

Loose Cannon

I decided to go all in with the synth sounds for the first time not even thinking of using the horrible distorted guitar sounds. I initially recorded most of the sections live on a piece of shit Casio keyboard some years ago onto a MiniDisc and forgot about it ...That's right kids, an actual MiniDisc. I still use that technology. Well, I found the disc before Christmas '17 and thought hey, this is kinda interesting. Maybe I should work on it so that's what I did. (2018)

Quantum Dots

An old guitar riff of mine from 2005 became the verse and the intro is at least somewhat inspired by Jan Hammer. The rest of the track is basically parts of an old track I did in 2014 called "Drive"... I prefer walking.

How'd I end up wearing those shorts on a dark, Croatian street? Haha. I can't remember. I'm a Shotokan disciple and that pose is my almost perfect 'gedan barai'. (2018)

Burning Witches - Executed

I found another old MiniDisc with over three hours of my guitar riffs from around 2005. It seems that I don't really have to think of new stuff for a long time, because I noticed that I like most of them and can always "give them the KORG treatment". So, this track is mainly based on a couple of those old riffs, but about half of it is new stuff. I like the end result very much. The melody at the very end is basically Jan Hammer's "Payback" (2:44). I've always loved that track and the MV episode of the same name. (2018)

I'ts kinda bittersweet. Sometimes you just hope so hard that something would happen and you know at the same time that it's not going to. Anyways, if you manage to keep your wits you will learn and some day the hope will not be in vain. That's what I hope anyways. :D

Fool's hope

5150 refers to the California law code for the temporary, involuntary psychiatric commitment of individuals who present a danger to themselves or others due to signs of mental illness. It has been more generally applied to people who are considered threateningly unstable or “crazy.” 

During the process of creating this EP and the creation of Ōsé as a whole, I willingly confined myself to my studio to work until I couldn’t work anymore, today marks 6 months of my self inflicted 5150. The things I grew to become comfortable with had been driving me crazy, so I had to step away. In the process, I learned a whole lot about myself, and my craft, in between many mental breakdowns. 
I separated myself from all the things that I knew were bringing me down; such as local bars and clubs on the weekends, and dove into something I knew made me happy, my music. Although it has been quite a hard road to get here, with plenty of doubtful moments and countless times ready to call it quits, I came out with a better head on my shoulders, and something that I’m very proud of, as well as an improved mood and new outlook. If you aren’t happy, you must separate yourself from the things that are making you that way, no matter how difficult to do so; and create something new. If that doesn’t work, it’s back to the drawing board; but you must not give up, there’s so much more out there!

I love music and I'm on a never-ending journey of creating great melodies. I hate to categorize music and I am simply "Electronic" or whatever my genre really is. "Synthwave" maybe. If it sounds good it most likely is. If it doesn't, someone will like it anyway. I also think music should be fun.

All the music is made using KORGM01D. I'm mainly into heavy rock guitar music and influenced by many great guitarists of the 70s and 80s. Metalhead making synth music is nothing new, but I'm enjoying this.

It's hard to choose any personal favorites, but some of them are definitely "In for a Thrill", "Airport", "Catch 'em Running" and "Burning Past".

Oh, and please don't follow me or like my tracks if you're not going to listen to anything. I like keeping the stats real.
