Several interconnected memories form into an entirely different one altogether.

An abandoned VHS tape collects dust on the shelf of a second-hand store. Contained on that tape were several television programs about not much at all. These are some of the contents of that tape.

I had some extra room to spread out a few keyboards all at once, so I decided to hook up my Poly800, AX60, DW-8000 and HR-16 all in tandem. Drum pattern is entirely HR-16 with some compression and gated reverb (layered over itself, with the reverbed layer having a flanger as well). Poly800 covers bass, AX60 and DW-8000 handle brassy pads. DW-8000 also covers the melody.

Everything in this is free-hand. I came up with it as I went. Also these are some weird chords.

Maybe I can turn this into a real piece, ha.

Alright, I think I'm done with this track. So, here it is! It's a re-do of Home VHS that's not entirely free-handed. Sounds a lot better, too.

Alright, here we go. Finally got this one out of my head. Been trying to lay this track down now for 3 days or so, couldn't get the right idea to plop out onto the sequencer.

Not the best, but definitely not the worst. I'm happy with it, for being a majority of work in 5 hours total.

First part is recorded to tape, then I crossfade over to the digital multitracking. Everything done by me, as per usual.

yo yo yo, just got my hr16 fixed and hooked it up to the midi grid over here. Works pretty well, but the buttons are fucked, so that's irritating. Wanted to do something kinda vapory using the tape technique I've been doing, got some good results. The reverb comes from a Midiverb 2 I just got the other day, and then gets slammed by a dbx166 compressor.
