A special collaboration between the Israeli Embassy in Japan and JWAVE Radio in Tokyo, 
as a theme song for the "Japan-Israel Cultural Bridge" project, the Israeli Ethno-groove ensamble Quarter to Africa, releases a Afro-Funk version of the well-known song "Mayim Mayim" 
As part of the project, Q2A was asked by the embassies to produce a groove cover to the familiar Folk-song. Quarter to Africa brings their unique style into the original melody with a rhythm, tribal and joyous version.
The song will be premiered on 17/9/18 at the very popular “JWAVE” Radio in Japan and will be distributed to all media afterward via the Japanese label "TuffBeat".
 
Quarter to Africa gained much acclaim in Japan for the past year, had a successful tour, released several singles and videos, and appeared in various television programs, radio and magazines. 
In march 2018, as a homage to their fans, Q2A released their ethnic interpretation of the Japanese folk song "Tanko Bushi" , and a videoclip from their recent tour of Japan and South Korea, a single often played on radio stations and sold as a vinyl record at all major music stores across Japan.

  כאשר השיר בגרסתו המקורית "יובא" ליפן על מנת ללמד את תלמידי בתי הספר את ריקוד העם המוכר. השיר נלקח כשיר הנושא של סדרה חינוכית פופולארית מאוד, ועד היום נחשב להיט ומופיע לא רק כשיר עם אלא גם מאוזכר בסרטים, באנימצית מנגה וכריקוד עם פופולארי בטקסים ובבתי ספר.  מצחיק הוא שרוב היפנים לא מודעים בכלל לעובדה שהשיר עברי במקור, ולרוב הם אף לא מאמינים לכך.. 
במסגרת הפרויקט התבקשו רבע לאפריקה מצד השגרירויות להפיק עיבוד חדש ובועט לשיר המוכר, 
אשר הושק בכל המדיות ביפן ב17/9/18 בספיישל ישראל ברדיו JWAVE המאוד פופולארי ביפן,  ויצא תחת לייבל הבית של רבע לאפריקה ביפן ("TUFF BEATS"), איתו ההרכב הוציא מספר ריליסים בעבר , וינילים 7 אינץ' וקליפים. 

רבע לאפריקה, שזכו בשנה האחרונה לתהודה רבה ביפן, סיבוב הופעות גדול וקהל מעריצים נאמן, הוציאו ביפן כבר 3 ריליסים מצליחים, הופיעו במספר תוכניות טלביזיה, רדיו ומגזינים שונים, ורשמו גם הצלחה דרך הביצוע האתני שלהם לשיר העם היפני "Tanko Bushi" אשר שוחרר כהומאז' לקהל המעריצים שלהם, ולווה בקליפ מתוך סיבוב ההופעות האחרון שלהם ביפן ודרום קוריאה, שיר אשר מושמע לעיתים תכופות בתחנות הרדיו ויצא במקביל גם בתקליט ויניל שנמכר בכל חנויות המוסיקה הגדולות ברחבי יפן.

炭坑節 tanko bushi is an old Japanese folk song, re-arranged by Q2A (2018)

Q2A - Tanko bushi 炭坑節

“Yeshuato” is actually one of the first addictive grooves of Quarter to Africa, written in their musical journey in South India of 2014 . there. On the top of the mountain in Hampi, they shoot their first video, that was a jam of “yeshuato” in its early stages, but full of love for the world, for the music  and very attached to the roots.

When they returned to Israel, the song became an integral part of every performance and was much loved by the audience.
In 2016, a live version was filmed in a circle performance (360. When the crowd is around the band) with the legendary bass player Avishay Cohen. The clip received many views on social media, comments from all over the world, and even received cover versions by artists from Israel and abroad.

So after several live versions and a worldwide journey - the song was finally recorded at Q2A studio in old Jaffa. Where it started, traveled around the world, played in huge festivals, and now returned to Jaffa to complete the journey.

“Yeshuato” is the fifth single from a series of new singles for their new album released in 2020,
In continuation of their successful album which released 2017 which received physical distribution in Europe and Japan.

combining electric Oud grooves, Saxophone, trumpet, African percussion, guitar, bass, drums, synthesizer and vocals.

All this fused into a unique sound and groove to a show that will make involuntary movement of the hips.

In the past few years, Quarter to Africa has performed across the world spreading their message while headlining many festivals and major events, such as SZIGET festival (HUN), RedSea Jazz festival, Jarasum festival (s. Korea), Magic festival (Japan), GWMF Gibraltar ,Spirit of Tengri (KZ), TLV Jazz festival, Austria world Festival and many more.

Q2A Collaborated with top artists as Ester Rada, Reef Cohen, Yossi Fine, Shay ben tzur, and Avishai Cohen (as his official band for “1970” project and world tour).
