The tiny elf had a concerned look, he knew that He was harmless when fighting people with a pure heart, but he also knew that the Volcano Lady, the leader of the lands where they live, had the strongest personality of Crystallia, and she would not doubt doing her best on a possible challenge.

The elf ran towards the room of his Master, and with a trembling voice, he said:

- They say He is coming, Miss Scarlet, and He is confused. - The Volcano Lady gave the tiny elf a thoughtful look.

- Why would He come here, of all the places he could go?

- He is probably searching for answers... He lost all his memories when She carried him to that cave after the Great Battle ended centuries ago, and Eenah is one of the first places that call your attention when you exit Gaia's Forest. - Scarlet nodded at him.

- And what do you all want me to do then? You know we can't tell them the truth, it's the "Sacred Secret" She asked the kingdom to keep. You already know that the only way of avoiding a problem is to knock Him out forever, as She asked. - Scarlet said peacefully.

- Remember how He is, Miss Scarlet. Knowing his nature, He will probably only challenge you to a friendly fight, and you are the only one who equals his power. However, you truly know that he doesn't harm others unless they deserve it... That's why I, on behalf of the whole tribe, ask you to...

Suddenly, from the top of the Eenah Volcano, Scarlet and the tiny elf realize something is approaching from the distance...

(THE SONG STARTS)

Arriving at the Eenah entrance, the Hero found himself face to face with the Volcano Lady, and without saying a word, she grabbed her trident and raised it, pointing right into the bear's eyes. Right after, she exclaimed:

- I don't care about your intentions, you will only find silence!

Without letting him answer, Scarlet pounced on the Hero and started attacking him with her flame trident. The Bear, hardly knowing why, could block her attacks easily and pushed her back, without hurting her.

- I only want to know the truth madame... No pain, just tell me what this is about! - the Bear exclaimed while he moved quickly enough to dodge one of her attacks...

Scarlet didn't answer, and Quartzone went on speaking.

- Why does everybody seem to know me except for MYSELF!

Scarlet expression twisted with pity, but she knew she could not mess things up by telling him the truth. She had to obey Her. Again, she didn't answer the Hero's words.

The battle continued for what felt like years, the girl's movements were elegant and refined, until, after many more ruthless attacks from Scarlet, Quartzone ripped her trident out of her hands, which made Scarlet fall to the ground, right at the edge of Eenah's glowing lava. Waiting for death, she finally spoke, revealing her sweetest voice tone to the Hero.

- Just... Finish with me already. Kill me so I can forget this twisted world and its truth. - Scarlet closed her eyes, but Quartzone dropped his blades to the ground.

- I only help people. I don't kill, and you looked like you needed help during our battle. - The Volcano Lady opened her eyes and gave Quartzone a confused look. Then, the bear proceeded:

- Look, I straight up found myself in a cave in front of a scarf and two crystal blades, and everybody seemed to know me and look at me with sadness. I have no idea why so that's why I just came to the first place that called my attention. To my surprise, the first thing I find at this huge volcano is a girl who also appears to know a ton about me just trying to kill me so she avoids talking to me... - Scarlet began to feel tears running down her face, and the Bear continued:

- But you didn't want to kill... I felt it. You were just fighting yourself all the time...

- Ah... I am... - The Volcano Girl could not finish her sentence and she just started another one instead, surprising the Hero. - I have always admired you. - Scarlet said with a sad look.

"There has to be another way" She thought.

Dronez - Synthetic

Back in the depths of the Lost Lake, the three bears and the squirrel approached the big prismatic statue with the slots for the fragments.

- Your turn, smarty. - Amesynth teased Bubbles. The purple bear found it slightly annoying that the squirrel knew as much about bear technology as her, but she didn't hate her for it. As the only remaining bear on the surface of Crystallia who knows it, she was really competitive.

The squirrel shook her head, looking at her with disdain, but she obeyed and meticulously placed each fragment in its place. After a few moments of silence, the shards started glowing and the prism opened in half.

- Here he comes. - Bubbles said.

From inside the statue, a giant mechanical creature emerged. It was shaped like a big squid. 

- Alright. He should be completely harmless for now, so if we want to find what's causing the weird behaviour of the mechanical fishes, we should have a look at how he reacts to each crystal shard. - Amesynth explained. - We need to inject him with an extract of each one in the core so we can fix him.

She proceeded to head to the compartment of the core in order to open it. She noticed how the security cannons placed in the rocks of the lake turned to point at her. The Spectral Guardian was built by the bear tribe centuries ago at the request of Damien, the leader of the fish tribe that lived in the Lost Lake during that time. The cannons were intended to protect the population of the place from every menace.

Cautiously, she introduced the emerald extract in the core. The cannons began to produce a rising noise, as if they were activating a mechanism.

 - I need to be quick... - Bubbles whispered.

She nimbly inserted the second shard in the core, the sapphire one. This time, the compartment closed and the cannons began shooting medium-sized projectiles, big enough to destroy a house on one hit. Bubbles dived away from her position, but the guns followed her. The mechanical fishes started appearing, ready to attack her. 

- Amesynth! There's a mechanism to turn the cannons off in each of them! Chalcelle could probably deactivate them with her crossbow if you tell her where to aim! - Bubbles shouted while she fastly dove in every direction possible to avoid the projectiles. 

Amesynth nodded and Chalcelle looked at her. Moving quickly, she began explaining.

- Do you see that lever on the right side of the cannons? That's the way of turning them off! Go ahead! - She then looked at Quartzone. - She will be busy aiming and will be slower when moving. I count on you to protect them from the robotic fishes!

Chalcelle nodded, she quickly drew her crossbow and aimed at the lever of one of the cannons. It stopped firing.

- Good job! - Amesynth exclaimed.

Chalcelle did the same for the next few cannons. One of them remained, but she ran out of arrows, and a projectile crossed the water at quick pace. Quartzone hit it with both his blades and re-directed it back, impacting right into the cannon that initially fired it, causing an explosion that destroyed the rock where the gun was placed.

The compartment opened again and Bubbles introduced the last fragment, the ruby shard, hoping nothing else happened. The mechanical fishes started surrounding her, with their red eyes. Completely blocked, Bubbles praised that the injections worked. In order to help, Amesynth and Quartzone prepared their blades.

Instead of attacking her, the fishes just circled around her.

- Phew... - Bubbles sighed with relief.

- I think the Spectral Guardian is thanking us for the help. - Amesynth said.

Quartzone looked at the squid-sized statue. Despite being made out of stone, he looked like he was smiling now. The Scarf Bear didn't know why, but he smiled back at him.

- Let's tell Bertinus about this. - Bubbles smiled. 

After doing so, and returning the shards to their temples, the heroes met at the entrance of the Lost Lake.

- Do you want to join the Crystal Guard? - Quartzone asked Bubbles.

Another day of training. Scarlet got up and put on her white armor. Her brown hair falling down her back and her determined look made her look mature.

Her talent in combat and strategic mind made the King, his dad, make the decission of setting her as her brother's instructor when she was ten. Now that she was seventeen, she already had experience with it. She did not understand the reasons, but neither questioned them.

She picked up her trident and got out her room. The walls of the palace hall were decorated with the Emblem of Crystallia. She approached the door leading to the yard.

Her brother was waiting for her, with a smile on top of his white scarf, typical of a twelve year-old who expected to learn something new every day. He was holding his citrine blades firmly.

- Good morning, Scar! - Quartzone shouted, holding a blade above his head and waving it.

- Uhh where have you been? You are dirty... Scarlet looked at him and frowned.

- Heh heh... - Quartzone smiled at her, making Scarlet laugh a bit. - Today is finally the day I beat you!

- Huh? You'll try, I guess. - She was aware of her brother's prodigious skill. It always made her feel a bit jealous. Maybe that was the reason she felt their parents loved the bear more than her?

En garde! - Quartzone shouted and began to run towards her. Scarlet raised the trident to stop the bear's attack. She dodged all the attacks and glanced at him, pointing her trident at the bear. To her surprise, he managed to run back and evade the weapon.

- You got faster! - She said.

- Heh... - Quartzone smiled.

Scarlet realized that her brother was no longer holding the left blade. He smiled and raised his left hand. Scarlet felt the blade getting from down her legs and hitting her trident, breaking it in half.

- What?! - She began to sweat.

- Told you I'd win this time! - He looked really excited. Scarlet on her hand ignored her brother, she growled and got back to her room without saying anything.

How did she lose against the boy she'd been training for this long? Was she useless now? What would their parents think of her now that she lost against her younger brother?

The days passed by and she lost against the bear day, after day, feeling more desperate each time. The King and Queen would feel disappointed. She loved her brother, but she started hating him at the same time.

"Palace Yard, Mooth, Year AYY9"

Last day of the Second Fall. They were training as usual, and the gray bear won again. 

Scarlet looked at him angrily, and started approaching him. 

- Scar? - Quartzone asked.

The girl grabbed him by the neck and began to squeeze it. Her brother looked at her with fear and noticed her tears. He could barely breathe. Still, he managed to raise his arm and caress Scarlet's arm, the one who was holding his neck.

Scarlet realized what she was doing and instantly dropped Quartzone on the floor, just to quickly get a few steps away from him.

- Oh god, I am sorry... - She whispered.

- S-Scar? Cough, a-are you okay? - The bear asked.

- Leave me alone! I, I HATE you! - She screamed in tears.

Quartzone did not reply. He understood.

"Edge of the Eenah Volcano, Year AYY9"

- What are you doing here, young one? - The volcano asked.

- They say you can erase hatred.

- Hmm, I see… I can turn hatred into something else...

- I hate my brother, but I love him. I don't want to hurt him...

- Despite your feelings... That's very brave.

- Will you help me? - Scarlet asked.

The volcano did not reply.

Scarlet began to float and got dragged to the center of the volcano's circle. Velvet flames surrounded her. Her brown hair turned to orange and her white armor turned to gray. A golden trident appeared on her left hand.

She felt stronger than ever, and no hatred.

- I shall protect you now, oh, mighty lord of Eenah.

The volcano growled and a path of sparks leading to a city in the base of the volcano was revealed.

Scarlet had found her new home.
