Great sound make-up and composition, I've lost a lot because I didn't know your music until now.

Oleg Yastrebov (Олег Ястребов, @v28yterij7ek) reached out to me to collaborate on a song idea based on an interesting percussion track that Oleg recorded.  I interpreted that recording, set a mood in my mind, and added the accompanying piano, bass and synth lines.  Oleg then added in an awesome groove and vibe on top of that with the drum kit and lush atmospheric harmonies, voices and singers.  Something to pass on the interest.

Don't believe it's not true.
To believe that it's not true would go against the very thing that truth is. It would be better to know it's not true. Belief is powerful, right up until you find truth. Truth needs no belief system, because it is simply true. The internal assurities must exist for a reason. Our genetic capability to discern truth may never lead us to action, but it would never lead us astray. Your intuition can guide you to the stepping stone of truth. If there is no stone, you must believe that your step will reach solid ground. What's starts with belief must end with knowledge and wisdom. Don't believe it's not true.

Don't Believe It's Not True

Demo track from 2007, made with the purpose of being used for a band. The track was never finished or performed. Despite good intentions I got carried away and overdid the overdubs (a tendency I struggle to get rid of even now). I made an effort to leave everything as unaltered as possible from the 2007 mix. The only thing I was forced to add was the bass part; before there was a horrible midi placeholder and it was missing in many parts. I tried to play it the way I would have played it in 2007 and it still remains a bit naive since I am not a bass player.
The drums were made from a sample CD found at a friend's house, I don't know where they came from. It probably also has loops in it from the library of the old Apple Soundtrack Pro...

Technical Difficulties

Hailing from Essex, QUBIKS’s sound is a kaleidoscopic post-house clash of loops and glitchy percussive beats, overlaid with lush synths and subtle melodies. QUBIK first started creating electronic music in the late nineties with collaborations with Matt O’Brien and Alien. Solo tracks followed with several vinyl releases via Off Key Records.
