An old traditional Irish folk song. Scraps of the song were found in Co. Donegal by poet Padraic Colum and musicologist Herbert Hughes. The lyrics were featured in Hughes’ ‘Irish Country Songs’ in 1909.

Kitty is an traditional Irish folk song. It featured on The Pogues debut album ‘Red Roses For Me’. In an interview with Shane McGowan he said it was his favourite song on the album because his mum sang it. He has only ever heard one other person sing it.
