Aquatic Plants Demo

20 kids, 10 field recorders, 3 excursions hosted Summer 2023 at Roundhouse Community Centre as part of their summer arts camps. I was blown away by how the kids interacted with the space and every possible way to experiment with sound outside! They narrated, investigated, instigated, and discovered a wide range of sounds, while learning techniques for capturing different textures and distances with their mics. After the excursions, I set up an editing/processing station on the big screen to do live creation while the kids worked on other activities, with participants coming by to have a listen/watch the in-progress composition being arranged on screen. The end result is this short composition that captures the joy of their playing with sound and place.

my best friend and i were on the el camino, this was one of our most favorite days. we ended the day in irun, spain with plenty of ale from a farm to share amongst the pilgrims. i had bought a marigold salve at an honor system table outside a farm gate just after this respite in the evergreens. this salve stayed with me for a long time and i used it sparingly but enough so as to not let it go rancid from rationing.
