Take Me Away -Dirty North

This is one of the most exciting prospects to come out of Preston for a while they do not adhere to the usual indie fuelled diluted acts, which always seem to deliver, you always know what you are going to get from these bands, that scares me.

The Templebys escape this void by simply being themselves a funk driven quartet led by their female singer, her dulcet tones act like a compass for the rest of the band and it was obvious at this gig that the band look to her for direction they sound like a British Gossip as well as the harmony of Zero 7.

The upstairs of Angel as a venue is something quite rustic and with most bands, it would hamper and hinder them, yet they their style allows them to adapt to any venue, although they are new to the gig scene they act and look like seasoned heads.

The reverberation they projected really showcased how their sound is developing into a very professional, yet raw sound I hope this gives them the confidence to push on as a musical unit from now.

The main track, which got the crowd really moving to this soulful four piece was their new track ‘Sirens,’ this is the sort of song that really gets them noticed around the North West it will not be too long till they start gigging regularly showing everyone what sets them a part and what makes their sound so original.

Mr Lonely Lonely -Templebys

The Tapestry are a Manchester four piece who conjure dynamic, energetic, rhythmically charged sounds with an ear for a pop melody. Quickly gaining a reputation as a must see live act, the band draw inspiration from the Pixies to The Smiths and utilise vocal harmonies and rip-roaring guitar riffs to create rebel rousing anthems.

Alexandra Winston is an American indie pop rock singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Classically trained in opera, Winston was encouraged by her parents to pursue music

Winston was born and raised in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. She moved to New York City in 2010 to work with production duo The Knocks.

Alex's 2010 single, "Choice Notes", is the background music to the European and UK advertisement for the Hyundai ix20 and TK Maxx. Winston played a set at Bestival 2011 on the Sailor Jerry's stage. She has also been filmed by the YouTube channel, watch, listen, tell and she performed 'Choice Notes' with the 'Sister Wives'.


FIRE ANT - Alex Winston

Audio Foreplay is about musicians and their inspirations, it is born out of the amount of artists who have come from socially hard backgrounds and then use this to galvanise their art. Whether it’s the way they sound, what they sing about, or even their way of life with some dedicating funds to community centres and the community they grew up in.

It’s now been a year and a half since this dynamic Welsh group began recording & gigging together. Their debut demo rammed album ‘Idolise’ was released late in 2010 and was nominated for XFM’s ‘best new music of 2011’. 

The record was released via Japanese label ‘Art Union’ who picked up on the band through hearing their demo’s online. We know them best for their highly charged track ‘1268’ which featuring on the Dead Young Club Vol.2 10” vinyl compilation in 2010. The track was soon later also picked up for release via ’Too Pure/Beggars Banquet’, all only months into their existence. 

The band also keep busy on the road having played BBC Radio 1’s big weekend, SXSW Music conference, sold out shows in both France and Italy, not to mention an array of British festivals such as Rockness, Wakestock, Camden Crawl and more. Additionally, NME, XFM, 6 Music, Radio 1, The Fly and Artrocker amongst many others have all praised the band over the last year having been playlisted or featured. 

We Are Animal now return with a new EP ‘Tacla’ written and recorded in their native mountainous region of Snowdonia, North Wales. ‘Tacla’ is set for release on 21st November, and is now streaming from Soundcloud.

In Quarantine  We Trust is fuelled by the seductive temptress that is red wine, he would often find myself laying on some kind of sofa with droplets of odd ideas flooding my mind.

Exhausted with all the cliche riddled sentiments that were forcibly hijacking ears, he began to write...

With the streets of Manchester and the paths of my own thoughts as catalysts his songs have gradually progressed into audible poetic expression.

Now, with his Takamine in hand, In Quarantine We Trust continues to write and play. Not only as a form of cathartic release, also an underlying urge to continue to delve into an expressive universe.

Relentless gigs all over the UK, including all the major cities, and the nowhere towns, where most bands don't bother to go has gained the band an ever growing army of dangerously devoted fans. 

Their militant working class stance caught the eye of Clash legend, Mick Jones who took Deadtime out as special guests. Since the tour Murdoch has recorded a single and album with The Tribunes..out on honest jons records, containing Mick Jones rhythm section from Carbon/silicon. 

The clash connection continued late 2009, when Strummerville (The Joe Strummer foundation for new music) invited deadtime into the family by funding the first single, double a-side 'Moths/Spine' with producer Paul Tipler (idlewild, 80s matcbox, dr feelgood,elastica) Strummerville also added 'Spine (demo) to their prestigious DIY download page.

 Deadtime have held the no.1 slot for the past four months. Among other supporters of the band is Michael Davis of the legendary MC5. Davis hooked up deadtime with Detroit based label St Thomas Records. Look out for St Thomas releases in the near future. 

Deadtime continue to recieve outstanding reviews for their high octane, raw, emotive live shows, as well as international and national radio airplay. 

Based in ex mining town Swadlincote, South Derby. Still on its knees from Thatchers strangle hold on the working classes. Murdochs songwriting reflects the carnage left behind. Deadtime have a massive chip on their shoulder..welcoming you to knock it off.

A Me B is not your ‘typical’ teenage artist. With heartfelt and meaningful lyrics which people of all ages can relate to, this young Northerner is about to take the British Urban scene by storm. When she was 17, Amy was described 'as a polished act' by BBC ‘Introducing’. ‘A Me B’ (real name Amy Burns – geddit?) has been producing and writing her own material since the age of 12.

Her musical style is distinctive and engaging, incorporating deftly delivered rhymes and catchy hooks for an edgy commercial sound which is hard to resist. Effectively still learning her trade Amy has caught the attention of the industry, having being play-listed on 4 Music's Box TV and nominated as ‘Best Newcomer’ for the Official Mixtape Awards held in London.

At the age of 16 Amy started gigging and in a short space of time she has worked herself through some amazing venues and now regularly performs at venues such as: Manchester Academy, Club Academy, The Roadhouse, Dry Bar and the O2 Academy. She has performed on the BBC stage at Salford’s ‘Un-convention’ event and supported London’s Mobo award winner Akala at Manchester Academy, DJ Ironik, and Tinchy Stryder. Amy was also selected to attend the BBC Masterclass held in London at the well known Maida Vale and Abbey Road studios where she performed a live acapella rap in front of BBC 6 Music's Tom Robinson, who described her performance as 'Faultless.'

A Me B can be heard regularly on BBC Introducing, Rinse FM and most Manchester radio stations and with the forthcoming album release and accompanying tour, expect to hear a lot more from A Me B in 2012!
