Originally released in April this year on fledging label Shadow Pressings, Freerange secured the license and are pleased to present this killer EP from Irish producer Darran Nugent including an exclusive new remix from Prescription and Guidance legend Abacus. Galway native Darran Nugent aka Aruba has been dropping dance floor heat since the early 00’s with remixes and EP’s gracing the likes of Toko, Brique Rogue, Moodmusic, Siesta and his own Elevation. Canadian producer Abacus needs little introduction having been responsible for some of the finest deep house since 1994 when he released the classic Relics EP on Prescription, going on to secure his place in the house hall of fame through releases on Fragile, 83 West, Balance and more recently NDATL and Phonogramme.  
 
Here we have five tried and tested heavyweight club tracks that doff the cap to the halcyon days of underground Chicago house.  ‘The Messiah’ takes the maestro Lil Louis’ blueprint with hooky sax licks and punchy synth stabs accompanying the raw, minimal house groove.  Next up, Abacus flips things in his own unique way taking things from minimal to a more layered up detailed groove and arrangement making for a track which keeps the intensity whilst adding a deeper atmosphere. ‘It Started In Chicago’ heads in a more jacking direction with a snaking bassline, muscular drum groove, cut up vocal and sax hits. ‘How Does It Feel’ brings a touch of late night deepness with a rolling FM bassline and familiar vocal hook. Classic string stabs join the party in the breakdown adding the icing on the cake and making for a track guaranteed to create a special moment on the dance floor. Closing out the EP, ‘Changes’ keeps things stripped back to the meat and potatoes placing all the emphasis on the punchy 909 drums and simple bassline.
