To answer some questions we recieved via the inbox, it has never been our intention for our version to sound exactly like Enya, we tried to give it our own signature, we know very well that to copy Enya exactly is very hard to do, so we just wont even try it.
April has her own beautiful voice, and we're VERY HAPPY with that.

Quenya Projects feat. April Gibson - May it be (tribute to Enya)

Dear friends, finally again another release by Quenya Projects.
After a lot of hard work we think we’ve managed to create a real Orchestral version with real voices of Bilitis 2014 (v4). 
This time we’ve done a mass collab with April Gibson (solo vocals), Imperial Choir (backing vocals) and The Orchestra helping us to get a real orchestral sound, although we couldn't exchange / replace all the instruments yet.

We all sincerely hope you’ll love it just as much as we did making this release, and we hope you can also advice us too, or grant us with your comments and critics, it will help us to evolve even more.

The Assignment of Bilitis 2014:

Make a 2014 version of the theme song Bilitis composed by Francis Lai in 1977, and give it your own signature still keeping the main structure.
Replace all synth sounds for orchestral sounds, piano’s and/or Guitars.
Create 4 different (opus) pieces/versions within 1 end production, and make a new intro.
At least 1 part should have a choir doing the lead, for the ending part create a crescendo/percussion style.

Matt and I made 6 different versions, and kept on working to get the sync spot on and still give it our own signature, and tried different tempo’s and instruments, but it just wouldn’t work properly.
Finally after so many different version we managed to come with this version, and I have so much respect for Matt for all the patience he had with me and all the work he has done on this creation.
It was one of the most difficult tasks for us both, especially because I am still not 100%, so a lot depended on Matt’s skills and time, I could only explain him over the phone or emails what needed to be done, and I think he did it splendidly, and his improving skills and patience with me, made it possible for us to finish it.

Quenya Projects (feat. April Gibson) - Wings

Welcome to our new 2015 version of Ellan Vannin which is the unofficial Anthem of the Isle of Man.

We already released another version in 2013 we did with Nina and Costas, and now we wanted to do it differently because this Celtic / Gaelic type of song inspired many people to make their own version, as The Beegees did as well, now we took their 1998 version (with their lyrics), and rebuild it into a new orchestral arrangement, and gave it an Celtic / NewAge kind of touch, then we asked 2 wonderful talents on SC, Donna Murray (vocals) and Koen Janssen (orchestral movement) to join us into this project.

First we wanted all the instruments to be spot on, but after I added my instruments to Koen’s, it was hard to fit in Donna’s vocals as it should (we all worked separately), because the harmonies and flow of the song was slightly off, so I asked https://soundcloud.com/peter-bennborn-project to help me to get the vocals spot on and in full sync, also because we didn’t wanted to sound exactly like the Beegees did it, we wanted everything to have the full sound and respect this piece deserves, and still to keep our own signature.

Quenya Projects - Ellan Vannin (read description)

Finally after almost a year Quenya Projects releases a new song again, this version is a tribute too Enya, and we wanted to cover her latest single “Even in the Shadows”.
First Matt and John made a instrumental version until we were completely satisfied, then we wanted to find the right singer, but that was a lot harder then we expected, especially because of all harmonies and weird attacks involved in this song.
We already made a wonderful song together with Daphne Braaksma in the past, so we asked her if she wanted and could do it, and she immediately accepted the invitation.
After all her recordings / tracks were cleaned and synced with all harmonies we also created with the instruments (which took a lot of time), we continued making / sending new recordings back and forth till we were all satisfied with this final mix.
This project shows and proofs to me how much talents are within the SC community, and we’re certainly looking forward doing more songs in the style of Enya, Secret Garden and ERA, covers and originals. Making NewAge music is always the goal of Quenya Projects, to let talents collaborate with each other.

Technical structure of the song:
The most difficult thing to sing this song is the fact that none of the 4 points of attack (sync points) are the same, this song contains 4 points of attack, 3 of them are done by Cello’s, bass drum and the Piano, the 4th is the solo voice, we included the specific melody line for the solo voice in our initial instrumental version so she could hear how it needed to be sang, the harmonies are slightly off as well and tend to follow the cello’s.
When we received all tracks from Daphne, we dropped all melody tracks from the project, and replaced them with her vocal tracks, then I had to make sure that her harmonies stayed in sync with the cello’s so with a lot of cutting and multi layering I was able to get all the tracks to sound as one as much as possible.
We had no intention to make Daphne sound like Enya, we still wanted to keep our own signature, so we didn’t use very much effects at all, the main thing was to clean her tracks from mic-plops and background noices, so mostly what you hear is what I received from Matt and Daphne, I only made some slight changes, and added / multi layered some instruments, and created an extra ALT voice to carry / support her voice.
I am very proud of the performance of, and working together with Matt Baker and Daphne Braaksma, their great talents and skills makes creating and producing music a real treat and fun to do for me, and I am sincerely looking forward doing more songs with them, it does motivates me to continue, cheers John.

Nina’s own Discription:

This piece is the masterwork of John Styles (OneVision Crossworlds) and Costas (CostasC), who transformed the earlier recording.
I sang of Mascagni's Intermezzo of the Cavalleria Rusticana adapted Ave Maria into a thing of utter beauty.
It is a plea to our Mother for relief from our journey full of pain and sorrow, and to implore her not to abandon us in our time of need.
It was the last request by my mother, a former opera singer, who dedicated her life to music and to her family. 
I thank John and Costas for honouring her memory with me.
