In this episode, I sit down with the world renown DJ Pedro M [https://www.facebook.com/realpedrom/about/?ref=page_internal] who is a legend in the Tampa club community as he was one of the few people who, through his passion and determination, nearly single handedly brought house music to be played at multiple bars, clubs and events around Tampa. Pedro M not only was one of the few advocates for house music in Tampa, but as you will hear, he was an active evangelist, “Spreading the gospel of house” and working to break down the misconceptions that people had about house music. We then talk about the recent death of Techno DJ i_o (Garrett Lockhart) and discuss mental health, pressures in the music industry as well as depression and suicide. PODCAST EPISODE DESCRIPTION: In this episode, we meet with a young up-and-coming event planner named Bonita Davis. She was the catalyst behind the massive appeal of a Kava bar in Tampa called Mad Chillers World. She worked there as a staff member and was promoted to assistant manager where she began hosting events like a Full moon party, which she will describe, turned into DJ’s wanting to play there. Fast forward to Now, Mad chillers world is established as the late night afterparty hangout spot in Tampa. After leaving Mad Chillers World, Bonita has started her own event planning company [Which is called Jubileeentertainment llc] as well as starting a new Kava bar in Houston, TX which is scheduled to open in 2021. Bonita shares her passion for encouraging young and up-and-coming DJ’s to get practice and experience while making a name for themselves in the EDM scene. You will hear her talk about the many DJ’s that had their humble beginnings at Mad Chillers World that went on to play at large venues like The Ritz in Ybor, Tangra as well as large EDM festivals. Then we get into how she first met well known Tampa House DJ Kyle Kinch and discuss the beginning of their relationship. As you will hear, Bonita is a smart and encouraging person who loves to watch others succeed and has a bright future ahead of her. This episode will show you the bold tenacious actions that you may be able to take, to bring your dreams to reality.
