Just an idea for a vocal melody.  There's just two verses and the chorus.

Draft of just guitar parts.  There will be more distortion for the heavier section, and some sweet, dark leads...  as soon as I find my lead player, that is :-)  

Absynthe

Alternative / metal / goth / whatever, dude... maybe some classical thrown in for good measure.  This stuff is all drafts from a few years back.  The stuff I'm doing recently is a little more "modern" (hate that term as applied to music!)... darker, heavier, but still with that bittersweet vibe.  I'm seriously looking for a male vocalist, a Lane Staley (sp?), Chris Cornell, Maynard, Billie Corgan.... something along those lines but not an emulator of any one of the above.
