I am thrilled to share one of my recent favourite projects in G# minor, a part of the EP "One Fall After Another" available at soundcloud.com/to_mi_nor/sets/one-fall-after-another-march. This EP comprises four tracks, two orchestral and two piano solos, infused with Japanese and Greek influences. The compositions are a testimony to my passion for piano and daily composing, resulting in swift project completion with contrasting tones and volumes, modulation, and pitch changes. The tracks are fully mastered and mixed.

RITUAL
I preserve the little ritual,
so you can return anytime.

Every day, when evening falls,
I prepare the table: an extra plate,

cutlery, your own chair, a candle, a glass,
as if you just were delayed.

I hear (how could I think that what
makes me who I am, was gone forever?)

I hear, as if the house still existed,
the gravel, the latch, the dog barking,

and you come in at the moment
I light the lamp, arrange the flowers.

I just hope I can stay calm
and without looking up from my silent routine

find the words, as if it were self-evident:
sit down, help yourself, you were expected.

Ik houd het kleine ritueel in ere,
opdat je elk moment terug kunt keren.

Iedere dag, wanneer het avond wordt,
maak ik de tafel klaar: een extra bord,

bestek, je eigen stoel, een kaars, een glas,
alsof je enkel opgehouden was.

Ik hoor (hoe kon ik denken dat hetgeen
waardoor ik ben, voor altijd was verdwenen ?),

ik hoor, alsof de woning nog bestond,
het grind, de klink, het aanslaan van de hond,

en je komt binnen op het ogenblik
dat ik de lamp ontsteek, de bloemen schik.

Ik hoop alleen dat ik dan rustig blijf
en haast niet opziend van mijn stil bedrijf

de woorden vind, als was het vanzelfsprekend:
Schuif aan; tast toe: er is op je gerekend.

Summer Song began in early September of 2012. The original melody and idea came to me while biking home from Cortes Island along the coast of the Salish Sea. It was the last trip of a summer full of great adventure and profound sadness. The song has gone through many transformations in the four years it took for me to complete writing it. Some of my favourite (and simplest) moments are the result of hours of revision. At last I believe I have gotten it right. It has been a friend to me for a long time now and I hope you enjoy it.

I Know It's Over

This is a an Armenian folk tune called 'Hovern Elan'. Traditionally it is played on duduk. In this arrangement I play it on a four valves quartertone trumpet.
