I wrote Finite while I was loosing someone I was very attached to but that I also knew was really bad for me. During this I started thinking about how every time I have lost someone or my heart has broken it has made me a better writer and it has inspired me in some dark and twisted way. I thought it would be kind of fun and cynical to write a love song about the impermanence of relationships. To me this song says, its powerful to loose someone who was always going to hurt you, there is no need to fear abandonment, and wether the relationship is good or bad it is kind of beautiful that everything and everyone is finite. Everything would be meaningless if it wasn't.

There was a blue moon that happens very rarely a few months ago and someone I liked asked me to go to the ocean and see it. It inspired the lyric "only you and the moon could pull me out tonight". I added sounds that I recorded through the voice memos on my phone, including that persons heart beat from that night.

I was saying bye to a new friend before they went home for the summer. We talked about how we didn't want to loose touch and I said "don't worry, you cant escape me now". I realized that I liked that phrase and that it could make a cute love song. I wanted the theme of the song to be you cant escape me, and I cant escape you, because you cant escape the person you escape to.
