Singer, guitarist and original member of New York City’s Phenomenal Handclap Band, @quinnlamontluke is an outstanding artist who under the curious moniker Bing Ji Ling as well as his Quinn Lamont Luke handle has toured the world as well as releasing with DFA, Claremont 56, Leng and a long list of suitably cool labels.

His latest project is the El Triangulo record label and he has just released classy slice of deep house in the shape of ‘Not My Day’ a collaboration with Alex From Tokyo. It's a track influenced by both Larry Heard and the the live life to the full ethos of David Mancuso's Loft Parties and does both more than justice. It's also features a classy rework of Quinn’s cover of the Lil Louis classic ‘Club Lonely’.

To celebrate the release Quinn put together a spin tingling mix for us and we also spoke to him about the mix.

First up is our man in Oaxaca Quinn Lamont Luke.
Quinn Lamont Luke is a California-born singer-songwriter, based in New York and Oaxaca. He has spent the better part of 30 years recording, touring, and releasing music on record labels such as Aficionado, Claremont 56, Leng, DFA, Lovemonk, Phantom Island,
 RAK Records, Rush! Production, Space Shower (Japan), Ubiquity, Tummy Touch, Uber, World Famous, and now his own imprint, El Triangulo. He has previously worked under the names Bing Ji Ling, the Phenomenal Handclap Band, and Incarnations.


He is currently a member of Paqua, releasing music on Claremont 56. He has collaborated and worked with an extended network of DJs and musicians, that includes Shawn Lee, Groove Armada, Tommy Guerrero, Darondo, Bryan Ferry, Marcos Valle, Phil “Cantoma” Mison,
 Paul “Mudd” Murphy, Psychemagik, Vetiver, Dianne Birch, No Doubt, and Alex From Tokyo. Luke’s output covers a broad, eclectic range of styles from folk to house. Luke’s various releases have been remixed by Idjut Boys, Ray Mang, Ron Basejam, Jose Manuel, Pete
 Herbert, Alexander Barck (Jazzanova), Lexx, Emperor Machine, Horse Meat Disco, Leo Mas, and many others.

A forgotten classic from 1997, rediscovered by the new generation of house leaders.

Originally released in the late ’90s, Marius Acke’s Crucial Traxx EP series is one of those rare gems — deep, funky, soulful, and full of the raw, analog groove that defines the golden age of house. Missed by many at the time, the records are now enjoying a well-deserved revival, championed by today’s leading selectors like Dam Swindle, ANOTR, Chris Stussy, Jamie Jones, Disclosure, Barry Can't Swim, Salute, Chloé Caillet, Known Artist, Sidney Charles, Shonky, Danny Howard and more.

Already a respected figure in the Antwerp scene back then, Marius Acke had co-produced numerous records for Mixz Productions and the iconic ARS label, including remixes for acts like Technotronic. His sound blended US-influenced house with early hip-hop sensibilities and deep, synth-laced textures, earning him a cult following among vinyl diggers and local DJs alike.

Happiness Therapy is proud to give new life to this essential piece of Belgian house history with a reissue of the Crucial Traxx EP series. All tracks have been carefully remastered and will be available on both vinyl and digital formats, including a special limited edition of 100 translucent red vinyl copies. HTCT01 marks the beginning of a reissue series dedicated to the lost gems of Marius Acke’s discography.

More than just a nostalgic reissue, this EP reminds us how visionary Acke’s sound truly was. Rooted in the 90s, but crafted with a timeless sense of balance and soul.
