Singer, guitarist and original member of New York City’s Phenomenal Handclap Band, @quinnlamontluke is an outstanding artist who under the curious moniker Bing Ji Ling as well as his Quinn Lamont Luke handle has toured the world as well as releasing with DFA, Claremont 56, Leng and a long list of suitably cool labels.

His latest project is the El Triangulo record label and he has just released classy slice of deep house in the shape of ‘Not My Day’ a collaboration with Alex From Tokyo. It's a track influenced by both Larry Heard and the the live life to the full ethos of David Mancuso's Loft Parties and does both more than justice. It's also features a classy rework of Quinn’s cover of the Lil Louis classic ‘Club Lonely’.

To celebrate the release Quinn put together a spin tingling mix for us and we also spoke to him about the mix.

First up is our man in Oaxaca Quinn Lamont Luke.
Quinn Lamont Luke is a California-born singer-songwriter, based in New York and Oaxaca. He has spent the better part of 30 years recording, touring, and releasing music on record labels such as Aficionado, Claremont 56, Leng, DFA, Lovemonk, Phantom Island,
 RAK Records, Rush! Production, Space Shower (Japan), Ubiquity, Tummy Touch, Uber, World Famous, and now his own imprint, El Triangulo. He has previously worked under the names Bing Ji Ling, the Phenomenal Handclap Band, and Incarnations.


He is currently a member of Paqua, releasing music on Claremont 56. He has collaborated and worked with an extended network of DJs and musicians, that includes Shawn Lee, Groove Armada, Tommy Guerrero, Darondo, Bryan Ferry, Marcos Valle, Phil “Cantoma” Mison,
 Paul “Mudd” Murphy, Psychemagik, Vetiver, Dianne Birch, No Doubt, and Alex From Tokyo. Luke’s output covers a broad, eclectic range of styles from folk to house. Luke’s various releases have been remixed by Idjut Boys, Ray Mang, Ron Basejam, Jose Manuel, Pete
 Herbert, Alexander Barck (Jazzanova), Lexx, Emperor Machine, Horse Meat Disco, Leo Mas, and many others.

"This is a perfect mix for the weekend. Some of you may know Bing Ji Ling from his work with Incarnations and also the Phenomenal Handclap Band with next up a new release from his Paqua project alongside Paul Murphy and Alex Searle on the Claremont label. Some hot debuts on this mix – the aforementioned Paqua, a Quantic/Alice Russell track that isn’t out yet, and a new PHB track that will be a B-side at some point in the future. Also on the mix is one of our favourites, ‘Toda Menina Baiana’ by Gilberto Gil. It’s a beauty of a mix actually. First out of the balearic traps for us this year and if we can post more like this I’ll be a happy man.

The mix is called “Mex-i-coastin’” as he just spent six weeks in Mexico scouring the Pacific Coast from Mazunte, Oaxaca to Sayulita, Nayarit. We are about to do the Mexican tourist office a favour here (not that it needs one) and post some of Bing’s photographs from his trip. I need to get there."
