Growing up in the deep south of Germany with multi ethnic friends and big interest in many different music genres of the world, Borrowed Identity built his wide knowledge in music. This variety in his musical taste is also the reason why he is working under different aliases producing a big variety of sound from ambient to house to experimental music and everything inbetween. Borrowed Identity debut EP on Quintessentials is another great example for his multistyle approach to music. You’ll find elements of house, disco, techno, ambient and more – always with an imminent love for music. Borrowed Identity released his first 12” inc. a Mark E remix on Foul&Sunk last year. That was just the start of an impressive career we dare to say. Borrowed Identity is a music freak and works very fast on tracks. Guy Gerber's Supplement Facts, Traveller Records (Finland), the Legendary Sound Research, Stripped & Chewed (Chicago), Catz N Dogz Pets Recordings and soon Mistress all released some splendid Borrowed Identity tunes. And we do the same!

We all know that Bavaria is well known for tasty beer and great football. And soon for producer duo Decent Rides too! Bavarian natives Sebastian and Jesko are Decent Rides. Being openmindend DJs for many years, Decent Rides intend to develop a sound that reflect their eclectic taste, incorporating Hip-Hop, Jazz, Disco and of course House. We like the kinda freestyle approch and hearing their new tunes, we know what they mean. Not dead serious but having a laugh on the dancefloor! Enjoy!

He’s back! One of our main guys, italian now daddy Mat Chiavaroli, is back in action. Mat released, among others, his superb „No stranger to madness“ album on Quintessentials in 2017, where he showed his productions skills and a style influenced by House, Disco, Hip Hop and more. „Some dee in my life“ offers much positive vibes for this summer. „Wantcha“ is ready for some heavy club rotation, 02.08. is proper Disco vibes and a dedication the the birthday of Mat’s son Divo and last but not least „Here by my side“, a wonderful deep and subtle house tune to finish off this splendid return from Mat Chiavaroli. It’s about time for the first release of this true master of deep jazzy house, Shaka! Shaka has an impressive list of releases, ranging back to the mid 90’s with some raw techno up to now with releases on Local Talk or his own label Vibes and Grooves for some serious deep house. His „Four flowers EP“ has plenty of soul soothing jazz-funk grooves nailed to a deep house beat and you just feel that Shaka is a real musician. And we agree, these 4 tracks are hot ingredients!

For their first release of 2015 Quintessentials are proud to present the debut EP from Bristol duo James Fox (Needwant, Futureboogie, Delayed Audio) and Naomi Jeremy (vocalist for fellow Bristolian house duo Outboxx). 

‘Living Different’ blends stripped back drums, warm Rhodes chords and deep analogue bass, with Naomi’s smooth and soulful vocals providing the perfect accompaniment. The first half of the track develops with driven guitar notes and subtle dub horns before a bouncing Juno chord riff comes in after the breakdown to give renewed drive and energy.

Borrowed Identity has had a strong 2014 with a trio of releases for Fina, Home Taping Is Killing Music and of course Quintessentials, as well as featuring on Ryan Elliot’s stunning Panorama Bar 06 mix. His epic remix toughens the drums up and adds a jacking 909 groove, adding extra dancefloor punch
whilst retaining the musicality and vocal of the original.

Andy Ash is a long time contributor to the sound of Quintessentials, with his album „All the colours“ being the highlight of his work. Until now! The Liverpudlian shows superb diversity on his new EP called „Silent Planet“. The opener, „Patch 2“ is a stripped down masterpiece of Dub Techno and a perfect club tool. „Hross“ can be called Acid House, and you know we love that! The B-side shows more of a relaxed vibe with the beautiful string-laded „Franco alley“ and the smooth low BPM track „Yellow“. This silent planet has something to say and shows great variety of styles and Andy’s skills as a producer - and yes, all AA releases have his own artwork!

Together with his mate Sebastien Vorhaus, he is one of Mexico’s top producers and has a quality output on labels like Freerange, Faces, Vicario Music and last but not least Quintessentials. Living in Berlin this summer, 4004 will get lots of inspiration and will have a busy musical journey. And hopefully some sleep! For now, his new “Body Night Lies” is another dope release for your house collection - damn deep and moody!

Mostly doing stuff on his own, Quintessentials 56 features a great collab track with Stuttgart’s Stylus Heat (currently working as Blunted Monks on Philpot). I’m not sure if we find 4004 reasons to like you Gerardo, but there are definitely two: you’re a cool fella and we love your music - simple as that!

How deep can you go? Well, you better ask Japanese master Jank! Jank is another example of these “hidden gems”, but releasing on labels like City Fly, Mysterious Works and Boogie Café says it all. The “Piece of ballad ep” on Quintessentials is super deep and emotional House music. Keeping the BPM low and adding soul power and a jazzy laidback feel make these 3 tunes massive. Don’t look away if you’re into Theo Parrish and alikes!
