Omid 16B has forged a unique and prolific career as one of the world’s most talented and respected musicians and producers with over 20 years contributing to the scene, as this mix proves.

Growing up in London, with Persian roots, he’s highly regarded as a pioneer of the tech house movement back in the early nineties, alongside Carl Craig, Craig Richards, Mr C, Steve Bug and Francois K. Omid boats an impressive portfolio of music, releasing 4 albums to date including his hugely acclaimed debut 'Sounds From Another Room’ (1998), 'How To Live 100 Years' (2002), the two-part ‘Like 3 Ears & 1 Eye' (2007) and his long awaited brilliant album from release last year, ‘Silenciety’. He has worked under many pseudonyms including $16 Million Dollar Man, Phaser, 16B, Pre 4, OTC, ORN, Sixteen Souls, Subversive Attraction, NEW5 and Omid 16B, among others. Omid's impressive collaboration and remixes credits include artists Lana Del Rey, Morel, The Cure, Gus Gus, Danny Howells, François Kevorkian, Steve Lawler through to Groove Armada, Depeche Mode, Prince, Deep Dish, and many more. 

Having played at some of the best festival stages around the world from Snowbombing, MTVFestival, SW4 Main Stage in London, DJmag’s 20th anniversary show at Space Ibiza, Bestival and the Space Closing party, Omid continues to follow his individual creative path, taking his unique sounds from his London studio to the global stage.

6AM Guest Mix: Omid 16B

Hello Everyone and welcome to another edition of PFG's Exclusive Progcasts, our weekly trek around the world of Planet Prog.

From the South, to the North, and we've taken the M1 out of Dublin all the way into Belfast, a trip quite a few of us at PFG are used to! We love NI, and this weeks DJ is one of the many reasons why. Well used to spinning mixes for us at PFG, this is his fourth mix in total. If this is the first time your hearing one, I can guarentee it won't be your last. Crew, give it up for Aiden Burgess!!!

Hailing from just outside Belfast in NI, Aiden got into buying early House and Techno records, and anything else that caught his ear when he was 16 years old. His love for buying them eventually led to him grabbing a set of old  SL12010 Technics when he was 17. Aiden's main influences back then where Sasha, John Digweed, Dave Seaman and many more. He's DJed in one of Northern Irelands classic clubs, Charlie Haggarty's in Bangor, and he has also ran his own club nights in the past.These club nights aired on a monthly basis at Rosie Scotts in Comber NI. That venture lasted roughly 2 years and in that time he had to design his own posters to promote his night and also hire speakers and lighting! Aiden has also won a Dj competition held by Mixmaster Records in Belfast were he was competing against 40 other DJ's. His hour long mix won the prize for £100s worth of records. His main styles of music would be Classics, Deep house, Electronica, Breaks, Progressive House and Techno. He has a massive passion for music and is constanstly sourcing new music for new mixes, just like this one!

PFG The Progcast - Episode 43 - Aiden Burgess

Since his passing I felt inspired, compelled even to honour him with a mix. For nearly 20 years he sent me running to the decks to mess around with throwing tracks together just too see if it could work. I wanted to capture that feeling one last time. 

After spending a few weeks on it, I just couldn't make it work. Then on Friday after spending a few hours tuning in to KissFM with all his friends I was able to find inspiration to finish it. 

I wanted to capture his essence without being derivative, to celebrate his love for syncopation while also reflecting his eclectic taste, to be melancholic but also fun.
