For more than 5 years Cargo Edition has been standing for the deeper house productions of Moon Harbour/Cargo Edition’s roster of artists. So far acts like Ekkohaus, Michael Melchner and Markus Schatz have been setting the tone. Now this platform is offered to artists who haven’t yet appeared on the label. The Warehouse release is the first of a series of Various Artists EPs. 

We invited artists like Steven Cock from Dresden, Ralph Sliwinski as well as the Italian acts Mass Prod & Marco D’Aquino and Minimono to contribute tracks to Warehouse Vol.1. The sound of the first EP is all about consistent house music that does not need any cheap rave tricks. Old school house music is quoted with skills and style and translated to the modern dance floor.  

Warehouse Vol.1 is the perfect start into the fifth year of Cargo Edition.

Beesmunt Soundsystem is swiftly becoming a Dutch institution… Commanding the controls at their own events in Amsterdam’s legendary Paradiso by the age of 18, David van der Leeuw and Luigi Vittorio Jansen carved their path as discerning selectors long before they established their own studio.
Emerging into the world of production in 2012, their breakthrough cuts arrived on Soweso Music and were received well across the board… “All Day”, in particular, was featured on Breach’s critically acclaimed “DJ Kicks” mix. Earlier this year their appearance on Bristol’s Just Jack has won them more friends, with “How I Wish” scoring them summer appearances across Europe. Now making their debut on Pets with three immutable examples of pristine production dynamics, their friendlist and schedule is set to develop even more. Get to know…

“Body Shape” speaks with a universal techno tongue; industrial strength beats plough and plunder with clanks and bangs while a dominant detuned synth hammers home an insistent riff that will resonate across the widest realms of house and techno. 

“Amsterdam 808” pays homage to their home city’s techno legacy and develops these dark motifs further.  Naked rim shots batter a hypnotic message into your psyche over the bubbling kick/bass combo. A series of claps builds into a hook that bounces like a tightly coiled spring. Stark, sharp and unyielding, this is a timeless exercise in 808 science that smoulders with a tribal sense of physicality.
Finally we hit “Sugar Square”, and it’s as sweet as it sounds. Sitting happily between Underground Resistance and Jam & Spoon, it taps into the deepest roots of slinky, emotive electronica. Twinkling with every melodic flourish, glistening with every rhythmic twist; it’s the ultimate complement to the darkness that precedes it and showcases the duo’s broadest skills and abilities.

Still riding high on the support for his recent Circus collab with Ki Creighton, new UK talent Kydus immediately returns to the label with a brace of new tracks that have already become proven weapons in the sets of label Yousef and the mighty Carl Cox. 

His latest double-header sees him turn out more fierce grooves and raw funk with a large helping of sun-fuelled piano for good measure. Free Spirit is captivating from the first drum to the last. A rolling groove, almost house, almost techno... A poignant story told that surrounds the listener with uncompromising positive energy, a huge summer moment if there ever was one. Yousef has been nurturing the demo for almost six months, building it from a secret weapon to Circus anthem. 

Cala el Verano see’s Kydus share the load as he continues the house techno hybrid, yet with a lighter touch from the musicianship of Naples born Dj Dep. While the signature chunky groove of the UK producer remain the focus, it’s the additional top line that energises the collaboration with a touch of hedonistic freedom. A real gem.

Since her appropriately named debut EP 'The Arrival' back in 2011, singer and fashionista Queen of Hearts has collected a loyal following through her forward-thinking DIY approach.The 25-year-old saw huge success with recent single 'Neon', taken from debut album 'Cocoon', which headed up multiple fashion campaigns and secured plays on a host of popular television series.

Now the Queen is back, handing over lead single 'Like A Drug' to Satin Jackets for a summertime rework. The German duo strip back the audacious EDM of Fabien Waltmann's production, bringing both the beat and vocals down for an easy-going disco groove.
